[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993363] Re: html5 video crashes in firefox 12.04
The same situation is for manually installed drivers 295.49. Graphics card: NVIDIA 8800 GTS (320MB RAM). When activated Youtube's HTML5 beta - during playback of any videos there is too high CPU usage of firefox (50%) + compiz (30%) + Xorg (20%). Video was not HD - just 360p. When playback is stopped or other tab is being wathech the use cpu usage of firefox drops to cca. 7% or 27% respectively. The format of the video is probably webm - or whatever is youtube serving as html5 videos. The fullscreen mode playback is unusable - it is being refreshed too slowly - cca. each 2-3 seconds. After while it restarts X and offers login screen. When Youtube's HTML5 beta is deactivated - i.e. it is played via flash, the situation looks normal - firefox uses cca 10% of CPU, plugin- container (decoding flash) about 30%. Compiz (20%) + Xorg (10%) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993363 Title: html5 video crashes in firefox 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/993363/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 926714] Re: continuous jerky mouse movements while using nouveau driver in 12.04
I can confirm that jones' solution has fixed the problem on my Lenovo W510. I have had this problem since (at least) 11.04, but it appeared to be slightly improved in 11.10 or 12.04 (freezing for a shorter duration). Additionally, as this may not be obvious to all users, I had to run the command with sudo. However, just running # sudo echo N /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll did not work. I had to run # sudo -i then # echo N /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll Thanks jones! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 64bit completely freezes frequently
I've been using the last kernel released with 11.10 since my crash yesterday. So far, I haven't had any problems. If I can last another day, I'll be 95% sure that solved the problem. I don't think I've gone 2 days since my upgrade on this computer. Oddly enough, I've upgraded 3 other laptops as well, one of which has an nvidia Quadro NVS 140M, but so far only my dual xeon w/ 24G ram nvidia gt9600 workstation is having this problem. Only one of my laptops is running x64, but the one with the nvidia card is i386. It looks like some people suffering from this problem have ATI cards and/or are on i386 as well, so maybe that isn't the common denominator. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 64bit completely freezes frequently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/993187/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I just installed 295.49-0ubuntu0.1.deb from the quantal repository onto a fresh istall of 12.04 64bit and can confirm that this solves the problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 975689] Re: X freezes completely running google earth on xserver-xorg-video-intel - IPEHR: 0x7a000002
** Description changed: When I run google-earth 6.2.1.6014-r0 using the Sandy Bridge GPU, X freezes while zooming in on a location. For instance this happens when I type 'Caversham WA' into the Google Earth search: X freezes about half- way through the animation. + + Workarounds are: + + 1. Use kernel 3.4-rc5 or later (eg from the mainline Ubuntu kernels at + http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/) + + 2. Patch the stock 3.2 kernel with the patch at comment #12. + + 3. Apply the workaround described at + https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47535. For more information + see comments #24, #34, and #35. + This happens in Unity, Unity2d, or gnome-shell in Ubuntu 12.04. X completely freezes so that I can't even switch to a tty console. However, I can still ssh into the machine from a remote location. Restarting lightdm has no effect but I can reboot the PC. If I run google-earth through the nvidia card on this PC (using bumblebee/optirun) there is no problem. google-earth also runs fine in a VM on this machine using the VirtualBox OSE graphics drivers, and it also runs fine on another PC with only an nvidia card. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 996821] Re: vmmouse 12.8 behaves erratically in when running as a VMware guest
Adar: Beats me. I'm by no means an expert on how upstream determines what gets packaged where. I can tell you that the VMware devs have reverted the commit (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input- vmmouse/commit/?id=2a321a39350aa020a8103813bed61ff559088195), but they haven't tagged or released that code yet. Below are some instructions you can follow to rebuild the package that reverts the change. After doing this, your mouse should function properly. You'll have a new version of the vmmouse with the version string 12.8.0-1revert189dc266. It looks ugly, but hopefully if a fix is ever released the version string will be 12.8.0-2, and this quick rebuild will be overwritten. Let me know if I did that version string wrong. Anyway, enter these commands in a terminal window. I suggest copying and pasting one by one rather than all at once, just in case one command fails: # Install dependencies sudo apt-get install build-essential devscripts patch wget sudo apt-get build-dep xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse # Create directory to build in rm -rf /tmp/vmmouse cd /tmp mkdir vmmouse cd vmmouse # Get the source debian package apt-get source xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse # Download the patch and apply it wget https://raw.github.com/gist/2663977/2637b39e07ca2ed6620df7d137333c8e20afa6d1/revert-189dc266.patch -O revert-189dc266.patch cd xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse-12.8.0 patch -p1 ../revert-189dc266.patch # Rebuild the package debuild -us -uc # Install it sudo dpkg -i ../xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse_12.8.0-1revert189dc266_*.deb -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996821 Title: vmmouse 12.8 behaves erratically in when running as a VMware guest To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse/+bug/996821/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
