[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()
More testings here: From the fd.o bug it looks like the crash is in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics. I tried to boot with the parameter psmouse.proto=bare so that the touchpad is recognized as a generic PS/2 mouse. And I performed 30 cycles of suspends/resumes. There is no crash observed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Please not that this bug report seems to become a dead end. To many 'almost' the same problems. When reporting bugs, it's better to be as specific as possible about the bug and the hardware on which this bug shows. For those who have this: - Complete freezes with only mouse pointer still moving - Multiple times per hour - Easily to invoke by using Firefox or Chromium webbrower or playing video And having: - Nvidia proprietary driver installed (the one provided by Ubuntu as recommended) - A Nvidia Geforce card with shared memory, using a laptop - Standard kernel (3.2) provided by Ubuntu installed And: Not suffering from this bug when de-activating the Nvidia driver and using the Noveau driver instead. You are kindly invited to join me at bug # 1033263 if your problem is exactly the same as described above. All others are perhaps better off to exactly (re)formulate their problem as specific as possible and report their problem as a seperate bug. First question from a kernel developer is to try kernel 3.5 with the above problem - does this solve the problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Hey everyone, This bug affects me too. Everything stops working, the keyboard and mouse don't react at all. If there was a sound playing, it loops over the last fraction of seconds over and over again. Here is my hardware configuration: http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00130961.html I don't have any Nvidia hardware so I think this is not related to Nvidia. I am testing further, but it would seem that I am affected when I run Linux 3.2.0-27-generic but not when I run 3.2.0.23-lowlatency. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033950] [NEW] NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI and nForce 430i USB related ACPI S3 State Entry Failure
Public bug reported: Hi, I will like to report that if I set USB Legacy support to Enable in the BIOS setup of ASUS P5N-E SLI mainboard, Ubuntu will freeze when I try to put the computer into suspend mode (BIOS Setup - Advanced - USB Configuration - USB Legacy support). Okay, I've created some test packages. Please keep in mind these are only test packages, I haven't even sent upstream yet. To get around the complications with keycodes over 248 I've remapped to the F20 key, which most keyboards don't have. We've been using the Function keys for this purpose for a while now, for example, touchpadtoggle events are F21. Please let me know if there are any dependencies missing. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969860] Re: fglrx uses 100% CPU when screen turns off (spinning in glXWaitVideoSyncSGI or glXSwapBuffers)
Regarding high CPU usage when screen turns off. I might have had a real casualty of this bug. An 18 day old HP Pavilion g6 failed after being left unattended for about 1 hour while running Ubuntu. The laptop was on a hard smooth surface in an air conditioned environment. It was found fan running, warm to the touch and screen completely black. Nothing could be done to exit this state. The failed laptop was returned to a Compaq facility where I expect they are intent on finding the root cause of failure (I do not believe this was a repair facility). The replacement HP Pavilion g6 (a slightly different model) is also warm to the touch when the screen turns off. Leading me to this bug report. Conclusions, the problems stated here may be the secondary cause of the first laptop's failure. The primary cause of course would be the laptop's inability to sustain high CPU usage. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1030535] Re: [Sandybridge] Xorg crashes in XIGetDeviceProperty after standby
This gives a new clue, changing my opinion that this bug is related to the intel drivers. First, there where many clues (crash happens while enumerating modelines, reported by intel users). However, if some of you agree my conclusions, we may close this bug for this package: 1) The fix linked by the comment above gives strong clue that this bug is related to the synaptics driver 2) The corrupted structure, a list node with a bad next pointer, is accessed via a list iteration as it seems, so the damage done by the synaptics driver may result in a crash anytime this list is iterated. It's maybe the intel driver that triggers this trap, but it is not it's fault then. 3) The crash with the same circumstances (some minutes after resume) also occurs directly after enabling the synaptics touchpad for some people, like in this report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=681796 SoI add the synaptic driver package here. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #681796 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=681796 ** Summary changed: - [Sandybridge] Xorg crashes in XIGetDeviceProperty after standby + Xorg crashes in XIGetDeviceProperty after standby -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1030535 Title: Xorg crashes in XIGetDeviceProperty after standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1030535/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
I tried disabling lid.sh and though it worked for me too, at least after a single test. Rather than delete the file, I did a chmod -x /etc/acpi/lid.sh, which prevents it from being executed. In looking at the script, it's checking for the files 'local/lid.sh.pre' and 'local/lid.sh.post' under the /etc/acpi directory. The script executes them if they exist, and skips them if they don't, so that may be normal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1034260] [NEW] Desktop Freeze
Public bug reported: I worked in Nautilus, renamed a file, and then Nautilus window and whole desktop became unresponsive and grayed. I waited for two minutes and had to restart lightdm from the console. In the logs I've seen [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id line approximately when crash had occurred. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates installed. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1034260 Title: Desktop Freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1034260/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
