[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1019863] Re: Occasional ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and Intel D815EEA2 mainboard ACPI S3 State Resume Freeze
(In reply to comment #8) Hi, Okay, I just had a crash with Linux 3.7 kernel. Whether it is Linux 3.2 or 3.7 kernel, it seems like page fault is one of the cause of the crash after ACPI S3 State resume. However, Ubuntu is a lot more stable with Linux 3.7 kernel, but when it crashed, the crash pattern was similar to when it crashes with Linux 3.2 kernel. Also with Linux 3.2 kernel, even after resuming from ACPI S3 State once, the system tends to get unstable (i.e., I get random Ubuntu has experienced internal error type errors. The module that crashes is pretty much random.). Is this bug specific to Pentium III or Intel 815 chipset? I will rule out ICH2 southbridge because it was also used with early Pentium 4 systems, and those are fairly stable when it comes to ACPI S3 State resume. I have a couple of Intel and ASUS mainboards with Intel 850 chipset, and I have never seen this types of issues with ACPI S3 State resume. I will change the tag to reflect the latest development. I also have one other Intel 815E chipset mainboard from Intel (Intel D815EEA mainboard) so I will take a look at that one to see if I can reproduce the similar crash patterns. Intel did have many, many updates related to ACPI S3 State resume issues with D815EEA2 mainboard in the past. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085338] Re: One pixel column that belongs in one monitor shows up in the other instead
I just got an answer in there: This is a limitation due to the way xrandr works. It uses a single surface for all enabled displays rather than one surface per display. The display hardware has alignment requirements that can cause this situation since we align the start address down. The per-crtc pixmaps work should fix the issue when it finally goes into the xserver. Now I have a doubt on what's the best procedure to deal with this. Should we leave this bug report open until xrandx 1.4 is in ubuntu and the problem is actually fixed, or it's declared as closed? In my opinion, the bug should be kept open until the moment it's actually fixed, even if waiting for upstream. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #58652 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58652 ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-driver-ati via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58652 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085338 Title: One pixel column that belongs in one monitor shows up in the other instead To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/1085338/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1024768] Re: [xorg-edgers] Missing icons in unity launcher and app switcher after update
Using Unity 12.04 LTS on Intel i3, this or something similar has happened to me. Suddenly the launcher has gone, replaced by a thin grey line. I may have pressed some magic combination of keys without realising it (but what combination). Flyouts for some of the icons appear when the mouse cursor is over the launcher panel, but about halfway between the cursor and the top of the panel. Problem persists across reboot. Unable to switch to started applications (except by luck: eg, in the top half of the launcher). Can get Ubuntu Home and start a selected application, but they seem to disappear (eg, into the invisible launcher icon ?) Suggestions for a workaround / recovery anyone. Must stress that system has been working OK for about six months and this has happened witou obvious cause. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024768 Title: [xorg-edgers] Missing icons in unity launcher and app switcher after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1024768/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Within this new window was a flash player, which would require me to click to initiate. The freeze happened before I had the chance to click the player. ### Google Chrome 23.0.1271.97 (Official Build 171054) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
