[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1098489]

2013-03-18 Thread Roman-elshin
and see if the corruption returns?
after this diff, openoffice test file in my config looks the same as in comment
65, and ok without it. It is after recompiling cairo without
server_side_gradients.patch, what makes chromium tabs much better.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1098489]

2013-03-18 Thread Chris Wilson
(In reply to comment #72)
It is after recompiling cairo without
server_side_gradients.patch, what makes chromium tabs much better.

Don't bother with that, the bug is manifest inside the GPU. Your
chromium tabs is just one instance where the GPU stutters, but it is not
the only one and they are all not related to gradients (which is just a
different texture after all).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1070677] Re: Xorg fails to start because of Radeon Issue [(EE) RADEON(0): [drm] failed to set drm interface version]

2013-03-18 Thread Pelládi Gábor
I have to correct myself. It doesn't matter if I have xserver-common and
xserver-xorg-core version 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.12 or 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.6.
In both cases xorg may or may not start. The kernel version is the key.

regression, because all older Ubuntu versions, including 12.04 LTS works
fine with the same hardware.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156310] Re: xrandr detects too many displays

2013-03-18 Thread Alex Bachmeier
I'm nut sure if I'm looking at exactly the same bug, since in my case the
displays stay black, no output what so ever.
The displays are all connected to the digital output.
I'm including the dmesg of one of my machines with drm debug.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1154431] Re: Unity doesn't start up

2013-03-18 Thread Amit Kucheria
On 13 Mar 17, Rafal Cieślak wrote:
I am affected by a bug which looks just as this one, and appeared in in
apparently the same version of unity package, yet I can't tell if it's
indeed the same - for I am using AMD graphics. If this is the same bug,
 I might provide additional information.

Can you please share your output when running `unity`? In my case it
complains - among many warnings and other info - that plugin 'opengl'
failed to load. This seems to be a significant clue.

Uninstalling the nvidia binary drivers and sticking with nouveau along with
re-enabling the unity plugin from CCSM made unity reappear. Try to check if
the unity plugin in enabled first.

However, the nouveau driver has a whole new set of regressions. So the
desktop is pretty broken on 'R' currently.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-03-18 Thread Franck
The problem(s) seem to be fixed for me. No more boot delay, lightdm starts
fine, no console appearing...
My boot time is under 10 sec.
No warning or anaivalable drm in Xorg.0.log... Kind of miraculous :-)

Attached are my logs, in case this matters.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066464] Re: SiS driver crashes Xserver with EXA acceleration

2013-03-18 Thread Dave Lentz
I'm not an Ubuntu/Canonical employee (just a volunteer bug triager), so
take this with a grain of salt...

Frankly, I wouldn't hold my breath for this to get fixed (upstream X.org
doesn't seem interested). The best thing for SiS users right now is to install
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS: http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04.1/
Once you have 12.04.1 installed, make sure you DON'T install the
xserver-xorg-lts-quantal package, or you'll hit this bug again. You need to
stick with xserver-xorg-lts-precise.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156574] [NEW] User interface crashes, computer restarts back to login screen

2013-03-18 Thread Carsten Agger
Public bug reported:

Symptoms: All of a sudden the screen is black, and the computer restarts
back to the login screen.

Note: It's a full restart, not just the X server which crashes.

I'm not using proprietary graphics drivers, and effects are thus
disabled (i.e., I'm using Unity2D).

One possible clue: It's now happened several times while I tried to
install Ubuntu 12.04 as a guest OS in VirtualBox.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156585] [NEW] Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2013-03-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

On a virtual Raring machine under kvm-qemu and Virtual Machine Manager
to display the machine's screen in a window on the host's desktop I
switched the emulated graphics card from cirrus first to qxl and when
this only showed a black screen I switched to vmvga. As the default
resolution was higher than the resolution of any really existing monitor
I used the Display section of the System Settings to turn it to a more
useful value, first to 1920x1080 (native resolution of host's monitor)
and after that to 1280x720 (for displaying in a window) which all
worked. The crash happend probably while booting into vmvga and got only
visible by the automatic crash report.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1142733] Re: Nvidia: unknown chipset

2013-03-18 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
Did any of you manage to get the nvidia driver working? It doesn't need
to have output to the screen, just xorg needs to start and detect
nvidia. The nvd7 is a card we haven't seen before, and it's a surprise
it worked at all.

If the binary driver works, it could be made to work on nouveau
correctly. Just get on freenode irc, go to the #nouveau channel and ping
me there, and I can help you get us the information we need.

ppa:canonical-x/x-staging you could try. Upgrade just the mesa bits, not
full X unity.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156574] Re: User interface crashes, computer restarts back to login screen

2013-03-18 Thread Carsten Agger
OK, I'm beginning to think this is because of faulty hardware. Not the
proprietary graphics driver, as it's not loaded, but something else. The
computer restarted at least eight times today before I gave up!

Still, if some hardware is faulty shouldn't the OS report this rather
than reboot?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156600] [NEW] X server fails to start after updates

2013-03-18 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

After installing updates yesterday (2013-03-17) I restarted my laptop as
requested and now the X server fails to start. The screen flickers for a
while between X and a VT but eventually it settles to blank.

ubuntu-bug should have included all the relevant logs but this bit from
/var/log/lightdm/:0.log stood out to me:

Woops, judging from the activity log it looks like you did attach it, it
just doesn't show up in the comments somehow.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156074] Re: [raring] after updates, i965 driver won't load

2013-03-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Timo, yes I had the GNOME3 PPA installed but after ppa-purging it and
even rebooting, the problem remained. This affects both gdm (which I
prefer to use) and lightdm with the unity greeter.

I had manually installed systemd-services (libsystemd-daemon0) but not
libpam-systemd. Removing systemd-services fixed my problem; an alternate
fix that also worked was to install libpam-systemd.

pitti, should we have systemd-services depend on libpam-systemd? or we
could just have ubuntu-desktop (or something similar pre-installed)
depend on libpam-systemd but we need bug 1153224 approved first, right?

Right, it's indeed the plan to flip the seeds once the FFE is

sna: Reset operation state between glyphs

We are not resetting sufficient state between operations as we presume
that all callers of Composite() currently pass in a blank state. In the
long run, we want to remove that burden and do a minimal initialisation.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1134466] Re: Update request and SRU request - Update to Mesa 9.0.3 stable

2013-03-18 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
i915 piglit went from 10533/11201 tests passed to 10541/11201 without
regressions.

radeon piglit went from 10533/11201 to 10541/11201, and seemingly
regressed on

piglit/framework/../bin/ext_framebuffer_multisample-unaligned-blit 6
stencil msaa -auto

But after closer investigation I could get the failure on 9.0.2 too,
and I managed to get a success once on 9.0.3 too. I believe that this is a
flaky test
on radeon, and not a real regression.

nouveau: TBD, it's crashing on piglit. Possibly because I updated piglit
before testing, it was working last time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156027] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGBUS from large CPU mapping

2013-03-18 Thread Chris Wilson
Hmm, that pixmap would be too large to ever support a GTT mmapping,
hence it appears to be a SIGBUS generated from a CPU mmap. Bizarre.

Do you have a link to the image? The largest I have on hand is 18k x
18k, which I can just double if need be...

Hm, i overlooked it... the 2 backtraces are both for

the 2nd one just hat the broken pipe-thing before the actual error.

So I think both files actually contain the same Informations?!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156310] Re: xrandr detects too many displays

2013-03-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
I have reported the same symptoms earlier with an Intel Core i5 PC
running Quantal, bug 1029865. I have installed the kernel from comment
#7 also there and booted it, but that machine still shows the ghost VGA
display and due to that comes up with a 1024x768 login screen. I have
checked with uname -a that the fixed kernel is actually running.

Is the fixed kernel not applicable to Quantal? Are more components of
Raring needed (like X.org)? If so, I would try an upgrade to Raring.

The xrandr output is as follows:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156803] [NEW] [Xinerama] Mouse jumps to wrong monitor during Mouselook in games

2013-03-18 Thread CoolAcid
Public bug reported:

When using multiple monitors with Xinerama where a monitor exists above
the main monitor an issue arises using mouse look in games. This happens
in both native OpenGL (Stream) or Wine Games (World of Warcraft).

The game is running on the main monitor which is below a second monitor.
When mouse looking in game, the character will look up when ever using
mouselook. For a brief moment the mouse cursor will appear in the center
of the upper monitor.

My *guess* would be that the game requests the centering of the mouse
cursor, since there is a monitor above the main monitor, it centers it
in this view and xorg/xinerama does not take into account the extra
pixels to the main monitor.

Description:Ubuntu 12.10
Release:12.10

xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156310] Re: xrandr detects too many displays

2013-03-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
I have tested your test kernel from comment #11 on both machines now and
get exactly the same results as with the kernel from comment #7. On the
laptop (bug 1156548) the problem is solved by both kernels and on the PC
(bug 1029865) the problem is not solved by both kernels.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156803] Re: [Xinerama] Mouse jumps to wrong monitor during Mouselook in games

2013-03-18 Thread CoolAcid
I should note, I created a new install of kubuntu 11.10, same AMD driver
and same Xorg.conf file and did not experience the issue.

** Tags added: apport-collected quantal

** Description changed:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 535065] Re: launcher icon corruption after wake-up from suspend

2013-03-18 Thread Matthieu Baerts
These programs should wait until it receives a signal that should be
sent when resuming from suspend.

Can you launch one of these programs from a terminal and check if there
are new messages after wake-up from suspend?

Till: this bug is about raring, not quantal. And if you have issues on

As mentioned on IRC, kernel from comment #7 fixes it for me on raring
with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD; xrandr output now correct
and unconfused fb0, lightdm and desktop.
