[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1158590] Re: X server fails to start after upgrading to raring on a HP Pavillion DV6-3030TX
I now have a working unity session going, using a combination of: sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx sudo update-alternatives --config x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf dconf reset -f /org/compiz/ I'll see if I can get fglrx or radeon working by making sure the GL modules are correct. Public bug reported: While working a moment on LibreOffice Calc found that facts: - LO hangs for a while after execute save. And I found that my USB expansion HDD was sleeping. (file that I used to work execute save located on the expansion HDD). Take a long time for the HDD to wake up again. - Print job was pending (printer not printing). Found that the printer was sleeping. Usually if the problem persists, plug out the USB cable and then plug in again. I don't find any solution other than replugging printer USB cable to wake up the printer. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1159398] [NEW] buggy openchrome driver renders desktop unusable
Public bug reported: I'm having a serious graphics problem in Ubuntu 13.04. When the X starts up, I get a glitchy set of squares that turns red with a discolored overlay of what I should be seeing. I also see no cursor whatsoever. Using lspci I got this for my video card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. CN700/P4M800 Pro/P4M800 CE/VN800 Graphics [S3 UniChrome Pro] (rev 01) Additional Details: Openchrome has worked perfectly up until this release of Ubuntu 13.04 and assuming latest release of openchrome. What I am guessing is my video card is having problems with GLX, though there doesn't seem to be any easy way to disable it (which is something I shouldn't have to do in the first place). The little bit of what you're *supposed* to see is also updating at an unnervingly low framerate, furthing my suspicion that it's a serious problem with acceleration. It takes a while for the (glitchy) display to appear in the first place. It didn't (thankfully) keep me from switching consoles. The boot splash is show in text-mode only (this specific anomaly has happed in previous releases though strangly on on the live session) Please see if you can fix this or forward this to someone who can see what they can do. Thank you for reading my bug request. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I'm having a serious graphics problem in Ubuntu 13.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1158590] Re: X server fails to start after upgrading to raring on a HP Pavillion DV6-3030TX
I've only been able to get Unity running intermittantly using the Intel x server, and not at all with radeon / fglrx. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1159398] Re: buggy openchrome driver renders desktop unusable
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected raring reproducible single-occurrence ubuntu ** Description changed: I'm having a serious graphics problem in Ubuntu 13.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1159398] Re: buggy openchrome driver renders desktop unusable
Kyle, thanks for getting the info. If you could get an Xorg log showing what happens when you start with openchrome, that would be ideal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1159609] [NEW] random freeze
Public bug reported: The system locks up at random. It may not lock for a day after booting up the machine. It may lock up after a few minutes of booting up the machine. Sometimes the display just freezes, displaying whatever was last being displayed on the monitor. Sometimes the monitor displays a solid color when locking up. The machine does not respond to pings nor any of the key combinations involving sysrq. The only way to recover is a hard reset. The machine is running Kubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 The computer is a HP Pavilion p6-2003w Desktop PC.
