[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1164093] Re: FFe: new upstream release 9.1.1
Piglit results for nouveau: 9.0.3: 10118/11275 9.1.0: 10297/11330 Some new tests went from skip to partially succeeding. Some EXT_framebuffer_multisample tests started failing, but those seem to be flaky on all drivers, those failures can be ignored entirely. A new nouveau specific crash occured in EXT_texture_compression_s3tc, it needs to be investigated, but looks like it could be fixed in a straightforward way. Some vertex tests need looking at to determine whether they're flaky, but overall a lot of fixes have happened for nouveau. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1164093 Title: FFe: new upstream release 9.1.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1164093/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1164428] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 LTS complete freeze
Public bug reported: I've read a few similar bugs reported, but none of them were resolved or were putted in an incomplete status. I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and it freezes all of a sudden. The keyboard/mouse stop working. Can't open any other TTY. The only solution is a hard reboot from button. Configuration: Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 Lenovo ThinkPad Edge Laptop Intel® Core™ i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz × 2 OS-type: 32-bit 4GB RAM VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Ivy Bridge Graphics Controller (rev 09) VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 0de9 (rev a1) I have installed on it a basic LAMP configuration, plus netbeans 7.2, FileZilla 3.5.3, Google Chrome. I also have an external monitor (I mention it because there was another bug similar that was saying that the monitor is the problem, but mine freezes regardless if I use or not the monitor) I don't think there are any logs as the system freezes without any warning (no CPU overheating, no lag...) It doesn't matter how many programs I have opened, because it freezes even if I close all programs, or even if I have Netbeans, Chrome(10+ tabs +youtube), FileZilla, messenger, libre office, remmina and music on all in the same time. Sometimes it crashes as soon as I start using a program, other times crashes 2,3 times one after another on restart, and other times it doesn't crash for days (the longest period without a crash is for 3-4 days). What is even more strange is that I have another laptop with Ubuntu ( a Dell Inspiron), with same software configuration and external monitor, and it never crashed. The only software difference is that the one that doesn't crash I downloaded the OS from ubuntu.com, and for the one that crashes I took the OS from a Romanian proxy. Could these be the issue? Please tell what log files to upload that may be of any help. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1162176] Re: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr-settings is ignored in 13.04
Are you certain it is being ignored and not just overridden by something else? Try having your script echo something to a file to verify it's running. For example, if you have a ~/.config/monitors.xml file, GNOME will set the monitors up according to the contents of that file. Check also if you have a system level monitors.xml. Most xrandr commands can also be set via the /etc/X11/xorg.conf (or /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d). These settings will take effect as soon as X starts up, so would make your boot a tiny bit faster and cleaner. xrandr commands can also be issued on a per-user basis such as in your ~/.gnomerc or other such startup files. But note that per-user settings will only take effect on login, and wouldn't affect the login screen. However, these are executed pretty late so would at least work around if gnome or something else is mucking with your settings. ** Changed in: xrandr (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xrandr in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1162176 Title: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr-settings is ignored in 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrandr/+bug/1162176/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1164297] Re: Xorg freeze
For GPU lockup bugs with Intel graphics, you need to collect the output of 'dmesg' and your /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state file. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1116791] Re: xterm and gnome-terminal should not be dependencies
For the xorg source package it looks like the dependency was added long ago just as a convenience to ensure a terminal program was included. Possibly there might be a debian failsafe session that pops it up, but I'm not spotting evidence of such; in any case that wouldn't be important to us. For the xinit package, xterm is the default program run if no window manager is used, so it's a more legitimate dependency there. However, we use lightdm rather than xinit in our boot process (e.g. creating a ~/.xinitrc that echos to a file and rebooting doesn't generate the file; and I don't see xinit listed in a raring bootchart). xinit is used if you start x using the `startx` command, but that's not really a use case for us. There might be other use cases where xinit is important, but for a regular desktop session I think it may be just vestigial. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1116791 Title: xterm and gnome-terminal should not be dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/1116791/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Don't trust it, those measurements are not necessarily accurate, and the dpi calculations in X are approximations, so they're overridden in gnome to 96x96. See http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2011-October/157671.html There used to be a way to adjust the dpi in gnome2 using the font settings dialog iirc, but I'm not sure in gnome3 where to find it.
