[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 649809] Re: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits

This bug seemed to become harder to trigger when I installed git-as-of- Oct-26, then easier again when I installed git-as-of-Nov-14, but given that this change seemed to persist after returning to 3.11 (suggesting a left-behind configuration change) and the general randomness of the bug, this would not give a reliable bisection (so the date mismatch doesn't rule out #71662 being the same bug). In 3.8.0 the same symptoms occur but the log message is nouveau ![ PFIFO][:01:00.0] unhandled status 0x0100 I suspect (but have not tested) that this change was http://cgit.freedesktop.org/nouveau/linux-2.6/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/core/engine/fifo/nvc0.c?id=32256c87ead3edec86bed5023a0ff96a6d907931 ,i.e. this error was what is now the warning. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
I can confirm this happening to me too. Every now and again before 13.10, but very often since I did a fresh 13.10 install. Everything freezes with no clear relation with user actions or opened programs. Sometimes I can switch to console with ctrl+alt+f2 and restart lightgdm but it just delay the freezing for a while because next time it will completely freeze forcing me to perform a hard reset. In adition, I have also noticed a very high rate of firefox breaks since I upgrade to 13.10. I have always been running an updated system with no extras out of the installed repos. It is coming out so frecuently that it is driving the system unusable for working purpouses. Just sometimes it can keeps running for a few hours with no problem. The weird thing is that it occurs when I'm doing the exact same work with the same programs than when it freezes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1253529] [NEW] Screen in editors get corrupted
Public bug reported: Hello, Since Ubuntu 13.10 I've got problem with displaying text in editors such Geany and Eclipse. Attached screenshot shows how Eclipse look after opening. To see regular window I need to dragdrop window by mouse, resize it and it get rendered properly. When typing text and inputting new line in Eclipse then text in text editor section dissapears. Only way is to scroll down and up in editor by mouse and text showing back. Other get around is CTRL+A select all text and it is visible again. In Geany, while scrolling, text is not showing at all (it looks like nothing happened - old text is visible all time). After scrolling it needs to select everything I see in window to show it. I don't really know if this bug is related to Xorg or other package. I think that Eclipse and Geany could using same engine to rendering text and it is somehow buggy in this version of Ubuntu.
