[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307233] Re: Acer Aspire 3003WLMi does not power off or reboot
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: I just Installed Ubuntu 14.04 RC on an old Acer Aspire 3003WLMi, after a very successful install on a Dell Inspiron 6000. Both machines seems to have the same capabilities. BUT : 1- NO wifi detected on the ACER. (OK on the Dell) My first installation hang on kernel configuration for the wifi driver. I found on a blog that un-checking the use proprietary modules solved the problem and allowed the installation 2- Machine completely unresponsive with Unity (3D accelerator seems absent) but completely functional with Xubuntu desktop) (Surprisingly smooth on the Dell) 3- NEVER power off when shutdown or reboot is requested. Every thing seems stopped. but the machine remains powered and the shutdown screens continue to run with its animation - I think that this is caused by missing specific/proprietary drivers, BUT - when I check for proprietary drivers none are proposed + I think that this is caused by missing specific/proprietary drivers, BUT when I check for proprietary drivers none are proposed + --- + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu2 + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: + CurrentDesktop: XFCE + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=2da3c1b7-27be-485a-af85-6bc2c870368d + InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-10 (3 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Daily i386 (20140409) + IwConfig: + lono wireless extensions. + + eth0 no wireless extensions. + Lsusb: + Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13fd:1840 Initio Corporation INIC-1608 SATA bridge + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + MachineType: Acer, inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1294666] Re: [HSW mesa kde needs Xorg-1.15.1] Multiple tiling-esque artifacts in KDE
Yes, the patch is pretty innocuous and has had many people succesfsully test it. For reference, the patch in question is: commit eec04d76a39a7334de4e00ef9f0f6e44c92b3d91 Author: Eric Anholt e...@anholt.net Date: Thu Mar 6 18:50:07 2014 -0800 glx: Clear new FBConfig attributes to 0 by default. The visualSelectGroup wasn't getting set (since our DRI drivers don't use it), and and since it's the top priority in the sort order, you got random sorting of your visuals unless malloc really returned you new memory. This manifested as Xephyr -glamor rendering to a multisampled window on my system, which as you might guess was slightly lower performance than expected. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1303863] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in BlockHandler()
Sorry, I was unable to reproduce the crash. I performed the same steps I did before, but without success. Maybe it's because I stopped using two monitors (I had another monitor, Sansung SyncMaster2233, coupled with my notebook). I have to find some way to get that other monitor (which is owned by my company) again and make a new attempt. I hope I can do it tomorrow. 2014-04-14 14:25 GMT-03:00 marq...@oriontec.com.br marq...@oriontec.com.br : Yes, I will update and try to repeat the same steps... 2014-04-14 9:19 GMT-03:00 Timo Aaltonen tjaal...@ubuntu.com: can you reproduce this and send another crashdump which could be retraced ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1303863 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in BlockHandler() Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I ran a session of terminal server with windows 2008 server using rdesktop then ran the Delphi 7. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307723] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 Freezes completely - Power Button Reset
Public bug reported: I dont't really know if it is a xorg problem, because my knowledges about tecnical details is short! I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome Beta2 64 Bits fresh install. This freezes start it out with Ubuntu 11.04! It got worst! I have beeing using Elementary and Manjaro. But I prefer Ubuntu! I don't know if you care about a single user or not, but I do hope so! The freezes in the last 2 to 3 days are very weird! Today it force me to use the Power Button do restart 4 (that's four!) times! For now, I have being using it non stop for 4 hours. But it was the same thing since friday! Before friday, it wasn't so bad, but it still hapended. I doesn't need to many things open! One of the times that frooze today, I only had Firefox open! I done a mem test, and it showed everything OK! I have a Desktop HP dual-core 2,8 GHZ, with 2 GB RAM and a ATI/AMD X1600 with 512 MB using the open source driver. I have seen MANY users complaining about the same problems, either with Nvidia, AMD/ATI or even Intel Graphica cards, so it can't be a driver issue for all those users! Please solve this, or I will have to leave Ubuntu for good! And I don't want to! Thanks... I tried Adding undetected resolutions section from here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution#Adding_undetected_resolutions): $ cvt 2560 1600 60 $ xrandr --newmode 2560x1600_60 348.50 2560 2760 3032 3504 1600 1603 1609 1658 -hsync +vsync $ xrandr --addmode DP2 2560x1600_60 $ xrandr --output DP2 --mode 2560x1600_60 Then I got the error xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed. However, 2560x1440 resolution actually works fine: $ xrandr --output DP2 --mode 2560x1440 2560x1440 is an available mode, so I don't need to add it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307623 Title: new X1 Carbon 2014 + Onelink Pro dock + 30inch monitor: no native resolution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1307623/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307786] [NEW] Macbook Pro 3, 1 NVIDIA Corporation G84M [GeForce 8600M GT] resume from suspend fails
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty (development) xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installed: 1:1.0.10-1ubuntu2 In 12.04.4 Ubuntu Studio resume from suspend works perfectly, just as I expected. In 14.04, however, resume from suspend works 1 or 2 times, and then the computer hangs and I cannot even get to a TTY. As I would rather use the nouveau drivers this is quite an annoying bug for me. I would like at very least some kernel paramters to use to get this to work properly, but would be willing to do as much testing as needed to provide a fix for the community to use this out of the box, and only install proprietary drivers if they 'need' to. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307165] Re: Unable to Handle Kernel Paging Request at
Just restarted the system and got this error without a crash Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null) and it was caused by palse audio as you can see on the screen shot. The last couple of times it crashed when I playing a song in a flash player online. It happened pretty quickly - during the first 2 songs, so I am suspicious it is to do with audio this time, not video driver. ** Attachment added: SCREEN SHOT: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1307165/+attachment/4084101/+files/kernel%20null%20pointer%20error%202014-04-15%2011%3A00%3A01.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307165 Title: Unable to Handle Kernel Paging Request at To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1307165/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
