[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313459] Re: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670
** Description changed: Unfortunately I have no reliable way of reproducing this issue, but it seems that after some time of using Ubuntu (especially when browsing websites with firefox) the graphics are getting corrupted. It starts with some small artifacts (single lines and pixels) and all of the sudden the entire screen is full of artifacts and the OS is basically unusable at this state. - Coincidentelly, I've had this problem with Arch Linux before. I was able to fix it, by setting the power profile of the GPU to mid or high as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Profile-based_frequency_switching + Coincidentally, I've had this problem with Arch Linux before. I was able to fix it, by setting the power profile of the GPU to mid or high as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Profile-based_frequency_switching So to me it seems like this might be related to power management. Doing some more testing with Ubuntu, I was able to fix the corruption when switching the profile to mid and then logging out and in again. - Leaving the profile at low did not fix the issue after re-login. + Leaving the profile at default/low did not fix the issue after re-login. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313525] [NEW] partial screen lockup after login with lightdm/xfwm4 and intermittant lockups after
Public bug reported: Desktop freezes for about 10 secs during startup. Panel0 is visible and appears to be being correctly updated (netload and weather plugins display and update normally). Touchpad and pointer appear to work. Desktop unfreezes automatically and boot proceeds normally. Then get intermittant lockups where no windows or menus can be changed or moved, typing on keyboard doesn't do anything. Contents of active windows seem to update correctly and with no loss of speed. Can switch to background terminals (ctl-alt-f1..6) which function correctly. I haven'tbeen able to spot anything strange in what is running during the lockups but I don't really know what to look for or how to look. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313546] [NEW] keyboard shortcuts not working
Public bug reported: Hi all, since the release upgrade to 14.04 amd64 I have some problems with keyboard, I think the problem is xorg or gnome-shell related, I'll try to explain it. The laptop is a Asus N56VZ, if I press any of the fn keys (except the laptop screen on-off) they don't work anymore, no response from the os. But If I go in settings - keyboard - shortcuts, I find the fn buttons properly configured and, If I try to reconfigure the keyboard backlight fn button, for example, the system recognize it, as any other fn button. So the system recognize the fn buttons, but they don't work inside gnome-shell session. Another strange think is the CTRL+ALT+T button, that doesn't work anymore, but in keyboard shortcuts is correctly recognized and configured. Thank you very much Bye ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 334.21 Thu Feb 27 15:55:45 PST 2014 GCC version: gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu 4.8.2-19ubuntu1) ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Mon Apr 28 09:23:03 2014 DistUpgraded: 2014-04-18 10:22:58,581 DEBUG failed to SystemUnLock() (E:Not locked) DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bbswitch, 0.7, 3.13.0-24-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-334, 334.21, 3.13.0-24-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 4.3.10, 3.13.0-24-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313654] [NEW] Left click does not work anymore
Public bug reported: Hi, from times to times the left click does not work anymore and applications do not get focus. I changed the mouse from the Microsfot mouse I have to a Logitech and it still happened. I have this issue on LinuxMint 16 also so I don't think it's Unity. If I restart lightdm or X.org server it works for some time and the it happenes again. How can I troubleshoot this further? Maybe there is an app that grabs focus or something and it isn't a Ubuntu bug. Do you have a better workaround until this gets fixed? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313459] Re: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670
** Description changed: Unfortunately I have no reliable way of reproducing this issue, but it seems that after some time of using Ubuntu (especially when browsing websites with firefox) the graphics are getting corrupted. It starts with some small artifacts (single lines and pixels) and all of the sudden the entire screen is full of artifacts and the OS is basically unusable at this state. Coincidentally, I've had this problem with Arch Linux before. - Leaving the profile at default/low did not fix the issue after re-login. + Leaving the profile at default did not fix the issue after re-login. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313423] Re: Unity crashing
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = unity (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313423 Title: Unity crashing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1313423/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247668] [NEW] NumLock turned off on layout switch
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Extracting from bug 1218322, confirmed there by multiple users: When switching the keyboard layout using a shortcut (such as Alt+Shift), NumLock functionality is (mostly) turned off. More precisely: it goes into an inconsistent state where pressing numpad 5 inserts the digit 5, but the other numpad keys move the cursor. Pressing the NumLock key turns it off completely (pressing numpad 5 no longer does anything), and pressing once again turns it on. This means that if someone prefers to have the NumLock functionality switched on all the time, they have to press the NumLock key twice after each layout change. I find this a huge usability problem. (I don't have a LED, so I cannot tell how that one is lit.) The bug is not present when changing the layout via the indicator applet. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313847] [NEW] xrandr: Configure crtc0 failed on awake from sleep
Public bug reported: Every time I put my laptop to sleep and wake it up again I am presented with the graphical login prompt as expected. The prompt works, I have a mouse, keyboard works, etc. Once I successfully login the display turns black and remains that way no matter how long I wait. The computer is responsive and I can switch to a tty. Switching to a tty and then back to the graphical desktop does not produce anything (screen remains black.) From the TTY I've tried to configure X manually using xrandr and the --display argument: `xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1366x768 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --display :0` This gives me the error xrandr: Configure crtc0 failed. Note that 1366x768 is the native display mode of my monitor. If it matters I'm using the i915 driver (I have an intel graphics controller, revision 9). If I run this command after a successful boot, it works (I can change to a different display mode and then back again no problem). Logs don't seem to have anything interesting in them; but I may not be looking in the right logs at the right time. Guidance needed :) If I reboot the computer from the tty; I get the xfce graphical shutdown screen. I'm currently running xubuntu 14.04. This laptop used to run xubuntu 12.10 without issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313459] Re: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670
I did some more testing today. It seems one simple way to reproduce this is to just move the mouse pointer around on the login screen. At one point this even lead to a kernel panic (see attachement). Again, setting the power profile to something other than default seems to get rid of the problem. ** Attachment added: kernel_panic.jpg https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1313459/+attachment/4099841/+files/kernel_panic.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313459 Title: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1313459/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
