[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1395210] Re: startup and shutdown plus scanner

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
David Bunn, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This
report will only be scoped to the first issue of three you mentioned:
1) You have to chose from the start menu Start with Advanced mem, then with
Ubuntu it will then start.

However, unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Regarding the other two issues, please file a new report, one per issue:
2) Also cannot chose weather it has a code to launch or not, I want it to
launch automatically.
3) Also how do you set up a scanner I have allready set up wirelessly and it
works well. I have a Cannon Pixma MG 3150.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1394997] Re: Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel Drake, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As
per
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=engFamilyId=36ProductID=3782ProdId=3782
an update to your BIOS is available (0041). If you update to this following

doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1393905] Re: Graphic driver crash on youtube

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
QkiZ, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could
you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top
line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly
shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc6

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1394424] Re: Xorg crash

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
m, could you please comment on if you return the kernel boot parameters to the
default by removing:
acpi_osi=Linux pcie_aspm=force i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1
i915.lvds_downclock=1 nomodeset

does this change anything?

As well, could you please advise on why each of these are in use?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1394424] Re: [Compaq Presario V6613TU Notebook PC] Xorg crash

2014-11-29 Thread m
I will try tonight; I can not reboot now.

I'm not sure about all of the boot parameters, actually. There were
problems some time back with font corruption and desktop background
corruption as well as problems with power management which I tried to
solve before by setting boot parameters. I'm happy to try without them
but I've noticed that it's becoming more difficult to reproduce the bug
consistently lately. It may take some time to report back.

Thanks for your help.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1393618] Re: Bug

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
jérôme, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi, nice to meet U!

No, i can't do it. i've changed to Mint 17.1 Mate. It would have been
impossible anyway, i don't know how to take screenshot without any computer
control device. Perhaps by a camera...?

I love Mint! I had many more then 10 bad installing troubles before it... Mint
suits my needing very well, and runs perfectly.

See U soon!

As well, could you please attach an untarred/uncompressed boot log

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1393442] Re: Xorg freeze

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
jpuxan, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97ME/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your
BIOS is available (2205). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 748184] Re: [nouveau] Text alpha blending is broken with nouveau

2014-11-29 Thread roland aus köln
just sent this mail to three of the developers i found in the xserver-
xorg-video-nouveau package.

now i found this bug after i know what i needed to search for (i was
wondering why there was no bugreport and so i searched harder)

 Hi,

i`m using a ubuntu based distro (mint) and having issues with graphics after
 installing it on older PC`s.

icons or other graphics elements are missing, for example in the file
explorer or in the xfce4 welcome screen

as i have several older graphics cards, i recognized that the problem only
appeared on older nvidia geforce graphics cards

i spent two hours digging into this and found, that it`s a known upstream
 issue and resolved:

 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51477

 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/nouveau/2014-August/018271.html

Could you please consider including this tiny but effective fix into current
supported releases, i.e. put that into xf86-video-nouveau ?

I have taken a look at the source of 1.0.10 and it seems there is no need for
backporting this fix, i.e. the fix should also work for 1.0.10 wihout to
 much programming effort.

I think especially all users of older hardware with nvidia geforce and
lighteweight ubuntu based distro like mint xfce, lubunut, xubuntu will be
 very happy about this...

 thank you!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1393153] Re: I was preparing to scan a document with Simple Scan.

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Warrick, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to
make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because
your description didn't include enough information. You may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs .

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392887] Re: serial wacom devices gone after upgrade to utopic/14.10

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Tags removed: touchscreen wacom
** Tags added: regression-release

** Tags added: bisect-done

** Description changed:

Recently I upgraded ubuntu from 14.04 to 14.10 on my HP EliteBook 2760p.
After that, all serial wacom devices (for the touchscreen) are gone:
-serial wacom stylus
-serial wacom eraser
-serial wacom touch
+    serial wacom stylus
+    serial wacom eraser
+    serial wacom touch

xinput -list and xsetwacom --list don't show these devices and the Wacom
Tablet section of the system setings reports 'no tablet detected' rather
than showing the usual settings. Booting with the old linux 3.13 kernel
makes no difference to the new version 3.16.

To find out what happened I played around on a spare partition with the
following results:
  1) fresh installation of 14.10 - result is the same like reported above: no
touch devices
  2) fresh installation of 14.04 - touch works out of the box
  3) upgraded the fresh installation of trusty to utopic: touch devices gone
again
  4) manually changed repos to utopic after fresh installation of 14.04 and
updated ONLY the xserver-xorg-input-wacom package: apt pulled some dependencies
and installed without errors, touch devices gone (so it reproduces the error
exactly as the full upgrade)

- I haven't found a workaround, so far, but on my recherche I found a similar
problem with some lenovo notebooks which have built in also the serial wacom
devices. See
http://askubuntu.com/questions/541505/thinkpad-x41-tablet-wacom-stylus-stopped-working-on-lubuntu-14-10
- So it may not only affect the HP EliteBook. Please, can somebody confirm that?
+ WORKAROUND: Replace the udev rule
/lib/udev/rules.d/69-wacom.rules/wacom.rules by the old file from Ubuntu 14.04
by putting it in /lib/udev/rules.d/ :

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392887] Re: serial wacom devices gone after upgrade to utopic/14.10

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
littlelion, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you
please report this problem to them via
http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/bugs/ ?

Please provide a direct URL to your report once you have made it so that
it may be tracked.

As well, as per https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-
wacom/+changelog Maarten Lankhorst is in the published changelog for
this regression in http://launchpadlibrarian.net/184470222/xf86-input-
wacom_1%3A0.23.0-0ubuntu2_1%3A0.25.0-0ubuntu1.diff.gz . You may want to
ping him on this.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1393169] Re: Double mouse cursor

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
CatalunyaLliure, as per
http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/download_bios.jsp?service=UK an update to
your BIOS is available (1.70).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392549] Re: So many times the last two days my screen force closes

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eric Lutts, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Does this issue occur after a period of inactivity (ex. screen timeout,
suspend, etc.)?

As well, did this problem not occur in a release prior to Utopic?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392083] Re: Black screen after boot screen - fglrx new installed and fixed

2014-11-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ben, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme3/?cat=Downloados=BIOS an update
to your BIOS is available (1.70).
