[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275398] Re: i915 driver/i945 hardware: Mir GL clients are rendered as black (or transparent or crash) windows when using i945 graphics

2015-01-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
filip, I will have to investigate that. There could be any number of
reasons why desktop-next doesn't work for you. But I'm confident we've
solved the Mir reasons here.

2015-01-08 Thread Edward Z. Yang
Using the original workaround (not comment #8), I have gotten back Wacom
input, and it is preserved across sleep. So maybe the updated udevs rule
is not right either. I haven't tested it. I had to reboot to put the new
rule into action.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364630] Re: init: Error while reading from descriptor: Broken pipe

2015-01-08 Thread Paul Abrahams
I.ve installed the 20140923 microcode update. It solved the buffer
underrun problem I was having but not the broken pipe problem. The
reason I thought it would help is that I saw a post somewhere saying
that this update worked but the previous one (20140624) did not. I've
been trying without success to find that post again to see just what it
was that this update was supposed to have fixed.

With this update I get the line in dmesg that says

CPU0 microcode updated early to revision 0x29, date = 2013-06-12

The form of the line seems correct but the date looks suspicious.

Meanwhile thes primary problem remains unsolved -- I can't get past the
broken pipe message. After it comes up I get bounced to a virtual
console.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408593] [NEW] X server disables acceleartion or turns off output (makes screen black) after kernel upgrade to v3.18 (Ubuntu Vivid)

2015-01-08 Thread Wladimir Mutel
Public bug reported:

after reboot into kernel 3.18 (3.18.0-8.9)

with Intel driver version 2:2.99.916+git20141119-1~exp1ubuntu1 it disables
output / blacks the screen and puts in the log :
[37.179] (II) GLX: Initialized DRI2 GL provider for screen 0
[37.215] (WW) intel(0): Failed to submit rendering commands, trying again
with outputs disabled.
(then refuses to switch local VTs both by [Ctrl-]Alt-Fn and by chvt in remote
logins)

after reverting to 2:2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu6 it puts :
[41.679] (II) GLX: Initialized DRI2 GL provider for screen 0
[41.711] (EE) intel(0): Failed to submit rendering commands, disabling
acceleration.
(then allows to log in bu with desktop composition effects disabled)

after reboot back into kernel 3.16.0-28.38 , both *.916 and *.914
drivers work well

probably this bug should also be attached to kernel package v3.18

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1407991] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-01-08 Thread Erik Brangs
It seems that this was a configuration problem that did not have any
effect on earlier versions of Ubuntu. It disappeared after reinstalling
GRUB2. It seems that the additional parameter text in the kernel
arguments (see the line for ProcKernelCmdLine above) caused this
problem on my system.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408593] Re: X server disables acceleartion or turns off output (makes screen black) after kernel upgrade to v3.18 (Ubuntu Vivid)

2015-01-08 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404217] Re: Backport support for Cherryview/Braswell

2015-01-08 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mesa into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/10.1.3-0ubuntu0.3
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408766] [NEW] GUI way of managing guest account

2015-01-08 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

It would be really good if there was a GUI interface (probably in User
Accounts settings) with the option to disable the guest account. So
that instead of having to run a command in Terminal (or create a new
config file) such as this one: sudo sh -c 'printf [SeatDefaults
]\nallow-guest=false\n /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no-
guest.conf'

And then having to delete the /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no-
guest.conf file to get the guest account back, it would be really good
if there could be an option to do this somewhere in the user interface
so that you don't have to do it manually.

My OS information:

Description:Ubuntu 14.10
Release:14.10

Xorg package version information:

xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.7+7ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:7.7+7ubuntu2
