[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364630] Re: init: Error while reading from descriptor: Broken pipe
I.ve installed the 20140923 microcode update. It solved the buffer underrun problem I was having but not the broken pipe problem. The reason I thought it would help is that I saw a post somewhere saying that this update worked but the previous one (20140624) did not. I've been trying without success to find that post again to see just what it was that this update was supposed to have fixed. With this update I get the line in dmesg that says CPU0 microcode updated early to revision 0x29, date = 2013-06-12 The form of the line seems correct but the date looks suspicious. Meanwhile thes primary problem remains unsolved -- I can't get past the broken pipe message. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408766] [NEW] GUI way of managing guest account
Public bug reported: It would be really good if there was a GUI interface (probably in User Accounts settings) with the option to disable the guest account. So that instead of having to run a command in Terminal (or create a new config file) such as this one: sudo sh -c 'printf [SeatDefaults ]\nallow-guest=false\n /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no- guest.conf' And then having to delete the /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-no- guest.conf file to get the guest account back, it would be really good if there could be an option to do this somewhere in the user interface so that you don't have to do it manually.
