Can folks affected by this bug test the following kernel:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/2015-01-13-vivid/

Depending on the results, we can perform a bisect or Reverse bisect.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410450] Re: X often freezes after resuming from hibernate

2015-01-13 Thread Henrik Treadup
This time I am able to log in via ssh. I can move the mouse around. When
I press caps lock the light comes on. When I press it again the light
goes out.

Last time the computer froze I was not able to ssh in. Also the reset
button on the computer would not work. The mouse stopped responding to
input.

I have had lots of other freezes before this.

2015-01-13 Thread Henrik Treadup

every day but seems to happen every 3 or four days.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410103] [NEW] Right click on application icon doesn't work on tiling display

2015-01-13 Thread Boris
Public bug reported:

When clicking an application icon, Ubuntu tiles it's windows as expected.
But, if when on tile display, I right click the application icon, to close all
windows for example, the right click menu opens up, but I can't choose anything
from it.
The right click menu is then stuck, and is not highlighted when I hover over it
with the mouse. This is until I right click again
An example use-case that happens to me a lot is if I want to tile all my
gnome-terminal windows to see if there's anything important running, and after
I see there's nothing important, I want to close all windows, so I right click
the gnome-terminal icon.

LocutusOfBorg, I think its just fglrx-(installer/core) that are broken
now, this make wine and possibly other things uninstallable

Hi David, can you please tell what is missing for that? I see most
packages have been fixed, can you help with a debdiff or a package name?

thanks

In the fix on ask Ubuntu, the difference is in these lines

Conflicts: fglrx-driver-core
Replaces: fglrx-driver-core, libopencl1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1277245] Re: nvidia prime causing mouse and screen to freeze

2015-01-13 Thread Oleg Cherkasov
Hi, I am still having that issue on 14.04 Lenovo T540p with nvidia-prime
activated.

I had suspected it is 'Disable while typing' option in MouseTouchpad
configuration however disabling the option does not solve the problem.
At the same time 14.04 on Dell V131 does not have any issues with
touchpad at all. Switching to any virtual console and back C-A-F7 is a
workaround as mentioned above however does not solve actual problem. I
wonder it is still 'Disable while typing' issue because I had similar
issue in a past.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410285] [NEW] X crashes and sends back to login screen or freezes system completely

2015-01-13 Thread Tamas
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When I try to log in to a Windows 2003 Server machine which has several
sessions, Remmina does not work (does not even show the login screen).
rdesktop on the other hand shows the login screen, and after login, I can see
the available open sessions.
So far it seems to be connected to the resolution of the session I'd like to
connect to: If I choose one that does not match the resolution of the current
rdesktop session, the system freezes for a short time and I find myself on the
login screen (or need to do a restart in worst case).

If you have any idea what else to check, or what to look for (or it is a
well-known problem with an already existing solution), please let me
know.

Thanks,
Tamás

OS: Ubuntu 14.04
rdesktop: 1.7.1.

I've checked syslog and found the following entry around the time of freeze:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105]

2015-01-13 Thread Dave
Hello,

Apologies if this is not the correct procedure, I'm new to Linux.
I have a PC with Linux Lite 2.2(Ubuntu 14.04/xfce based)

If I swap the HDMI output to another PC, and then switch back to Linux Lite
I have a black/blank screen, I think it is the issue described here.

How can I apply the fixes/patches noted at the top.??

Many Thanks... Dave

2015-01-13 Thread TuroLate
In my case this happens with the open source Radeon driver on a Radeon
HD 7950, but does not happen on a Radeon HD 5450.

The only affected application its Firefox, and only when I'm editing
text on a web site on a text editor gadget.

In my case parts of the text dissapear, if I select the text using
ctrl+a the text reappears, the dissapearace happens almost as soon as I
begin to type.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410238] [NEW] Rotating external display with optimus results in corruption

2015-01-13 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
 * Black screen when attempting to rotating external display in affected
configurations.

[Test Case]
 * Run a system with a internal nvidia card, and 2 displays on the intel card.
(Usually LCD screen + external VGA/DVI screen.)
 * Run xrandr --output external --rotate left
 * Expect a normal, rotated screen.
 * Bad behavior is a black screen.

[Regression Potential]
 * Low, only affects the transformed case in optimus mode, but it will be
tested against !optimus config too.

I do see this bug or a variant on Trusty, please see

Sorry, I cannot tell. First, I use really old versions of Ubuntu.
Second, either because of workaraounds that I applied at the time or
because of bugs corrected, I do not observe this problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1410515] [NEW] fsck.jfs is not called before mounting volume

2015-01-13 Thread Andrej Krutak
Public bug reported:

When a volume is improperly unmounted, fsck.jfs needs to be called
before mount - even just to replay journal, it seems.

Even worse, after last few shutdowns (normal=clean ones, from what I can
tell), I get frozen boot because the JFS volume cannot be mounted until
I call fsck manually on that volume - did something change compared to
JFS in 12.04?
