I am one of those who does not know how to apply a patch, so often have to get around this bug using Ctrl+Alt+F1 and Ctrl+Alt+F7, or external USB mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1454473] Re: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window
I also have this problem on my Dell XPS 13 9343. I have noticed it affecting nemo, nautilus, rhythmbox, and Ubuntu software centre, but not firefox or libreoffice. Perhaps it is a GTK 3+ issue? It seems to be that this only occurs after I wake from a suspend, and perhaps also when I wake from screen off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1454473 Title: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1454473/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1486673] Re: Attempting to enable multi-screen mode via amdcccle (with screen 1 to the right of screen 2) causes X to crash severely, as soon as you hit OK or Apply
Update: This issue is still not resolved on my system, and I am still stuck on pre-3.19.0-26 kernels. However, I managed to find an unused SSD knocking around and so I installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 14.04 to this drive, immediately dist- upgrade-ed, successfully rebooted and logged in, installed flgrx-updates and then successfully rebooted and logged in fine again. There was no sign of the freezing-up on the login screen this time. I don't know what happened; whether there was some sort of corruption as a result of the whole process, or whatever; but it looks as though I'm going to have to re-install Ubuntu and migrate all of my settings, fine- tunings, custom scripts, programs and repositories across to the new system. I'm not happy, but such is life... I'll mark this bug as closed, but I'm going to link to it in the fglrx- installer bug for future reference. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1454473] Re: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window
Okay, so, ignore my previous claim it happens only after wake-up. As such, my fix is also not perfect, although it does prevent the problem for a time after login. I'm gonna put those commands onto keyboard shortcuts so they're easier to do.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1479913] Re: SRU request: fglrx.ko fails because of backported GPL-only 'pci_ignore_hotplug' symbol
This bug has caused a situation whereby I will probably have to reinstall Ubuntu in order to get the up-to date kernel running on my hardware. See comments 38, 42, 51 and 53 for details. I filed another bug report to describe my particular situation: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1486673 This new bug report has not been dealt with, but I have marked it as fixed, as it seems to be a vanishingly rare occurrence (only one other user reported anything similar) and the root cause has been dealt with here. I include this information here however, for the record. YO! As a temporary automated fix, you can add the command: xinput set-prop DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD UNKNOWN --type=int --format=8 Device Enabled xinput set-prop DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD UNKNOWN --type=int --format=8 Device Enabled 1 To the startup applications app in Ubuntu.
