[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519082] Re: Left mouse bottom stops working

2015-11-24 Thread path
Chris,

I tried using a different kernel and an older installation. The left
mouse button error occurred again in each case. I connected this
keyboard and mouse to a windows 10 system and the left mouse button
stopped working at times yet again. Simply, this isn't a software bug at
all. Let alone an xorg bug.

I removed the plastic cover from the mouse. Then started testing
directly with screw driver on the mouse button electronic. I kept
clicking for a while and the error never appeared?

I guess I needed to clean my mouse. I haven't experienced the left mouse
button error since. It works fine right now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vindicator, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing.

Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a
terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y
dist-upgrade && sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in
/etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open a terminal,
navigate to your /var/crash directory and file your report with:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. By
default, this sends the crash to the Ubuntu Error Tracker
infrastructure, which is different than Launchpad. For more on this,
please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker .

However, if after doing this you would still like to have a crash report posted
to Launchpad, for example to ease triage and add others to your report, one
would need to open the following file via a terminal:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and file the crash report via:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

If you do open this report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

However, I'm closing this report since the process outlined above will
deal with this issue more efficiently. Also, please do not attach your
crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1518990] Re: Display corruption when using some QT programs

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Tom, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/latitude-e7440-ultrabook/drivers/advanced an update to
your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A16). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1518976] Re: miniDisplay VGA adapter doesn't work after switching to 4.2 kernel

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vlad Dinulescu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very
top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and
please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with gcc 5

2015-11-24 Thread Allen Webb
I have been following another bug related to creating USB boot drives
and it seems like they are having issues with gcc 5.0 because of a
section alignment issue. I don't know whether or not that would effect
compiling the wrapper for fglrx, but I figured I would bring it up
incase it is linked to the root cause of the incompatibility with gcc. I
know the boot issue with syslinux is different than the boot issue with
fglrx, but if there is an issue created by a bug or change in gcc 5 it
might give some light on other issues. See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/syslinux/+bug/1507002/comments/6

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
kolen, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QPLAM/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (0416).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519461] [NEW] Black screen, when nvidia enabled after wakeup from suspend

2015-11-24 Thread Dimon2242
Public bug reported:

When NVidia 820m is enabled in UEFI, after wake up from suspend mode i have
hang on black screen (ctrl + alt + Fx is not working).
Also i report about this bug to Nvidia (on official blob drivers problem is
here), and they have reproduced this problem and will submit info to
engineering nvidia.
I try add this parameter ADD_PARAMETERS="--quirk-dpms-on" to
/etc/pm/config.d/config, and after wake up from suspend mode i see lockscreen
(ubuntu greeter), but mouse, keyboard not working again. Again hang system, but
with image on display!

buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.22). If you update to this
following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change
anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Nvidia drivers on my laptop (it has dual-graphics with an integrated Intel one).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1517348] Re: Xorg freeze on DELL XPS13 L322X Ubuntu 15.10

2015-11-24 Thread Alessandro Sfondrini
Dear Christopher,

thank you for your reply. I have updated the BIOS with what appeared to
be the newest version available from Dell.

I now get
> sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
A10
08/28/2013

I did not experience any freeze for a short while (one full day, while
my laptop was plugged into power). Today, while my laptop was running on
battery power I experienced the first freeze since the BIOS upgrade.

It appears identical to what I used to have before upgrade (i.e. not
only the laptop does not respond, to keyboard/trackpad, but the screen
displays some strange pattern, cfr. the image attached to my first bug
report).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519228] Re: Drop obsolete dh_installinit --upstart-only option

2015-11-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package debhelper - 9.20151117ubuntu1

---
debhelper (9.20151117ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- autoscripts/*-init*: Test for /etc/init/*.conf where necessary. This
uses the #SCRIPT# macro twice, thus in dh_installinit, replace all
occurrences of that not just the first one.
- dh_installchangelogs: Do not install upstream changelog in compat
level 7. This floods packages with huge upstream changelogs which
  take precious CD space.
- dh_installinit: Add dependency to lsb-base >= 4.1+Debian11ubuntu7 that
provides the upstart LSB hook, to avoid upgrade breakage. This change
can be dropped after 16.04 LTS.
  * Dropped Ubuntu changes:
- dh_installudev: Change default rules.d symlink priority to 40. This
change has been pointless for a long time, Debian and Ubuntu use the
  upstream udev rules.
- dh_installinit: Add no-op --upstart-only option for compatibility. The
remaining packages that used this got fixed. (LP: #1519228)
- autoscripts/preinst-upstart-compatibility: Handle upgrades from older
versions that created the /lib/init/upstart-job symlink. This was done
in saucy and thus finished in trusty.

debhelper (9.20151117) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Niels Thykier ]
  * dh_clean: Temporarily interpret the absence of d/compat and
DH_COMPAT to mean compat 5. This is to avoid breaking
packages that rely on cdbs to set debian/compat to 5 during
the build. This temporary work around will live until
d/compat becomes mandatory. (Closes: #805404)

  [ Translations ]
  * Update German translation (Chris Leick)
(Closes: #802198)

debhelper (9.20151116) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Niels Thykier ]
  * dh_strip: Sort build-ids to make the Build-Ids header
reproducible.
  * Dh_Lib.pm: Respect --no-act in autotrigger, thanks to
Andreas Henriksson and Helmut Grohne for reporting
the issue. (Closes: #800919)
  * Fix typos in various manpages. Thanks to Chris Leick
for reporting them.
  * dh_clean: Avoid cleaning up debian/.debhelper when
passed the "-d" flag.
  * Dh_Lib.pm: Reject compat levels earlier than 3.
  * dh_clean: Support removal of directory (plus contents)
when they are marked with a trailing slash.
(Closes: #511048)
  * dh_install,dh_installdocs,dh_installexamples: Apply
patches from Niko Tyni to make timestamp of directories
created from "find"-pipelines reproducible.
(Closes: #802005)
  * dh_installinit: The postinst snippets are now only run
during "configure" or "abort-upgrade".
(Closes: #188028)
  * cmake.pm: Apply patch from Jonathan Hall to fix an
accidental error hiding. (Closes: #802984)
  * qmake.pm: Apply patch from Sergio Durigan Junior to
create the build dir if it doesn't exist.
(Closes: #800738)
  * dh_installinit: Disable initscripts when a package is
removed (but not yet purged). (Closes: #749400)
  * Dh_Lib.pm: Reject debian/compat files where the first
line is not entirely a positive number.

  [ Translations ]
  * Update German translation (Chris Leick)
(Closes: #802198)
  * Update Portuguese translation (Américo Monteiro)
(Closes: #804631)
  * Updated french translation (Baptiste Jammet)
(Closes: #805218)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1519389] Re: fglrx-updates not working properly.

2015-11-24 Thread Uwe Pfeifer
I can't attach the output of atigetsysteminfo.sh as i can't see anything
when the driver is enabled (also not in consoles ALT+F1 etc.) and when I
return to the normal system, I have no atigetsysteminfo.sh.

2015-11-24 Thread Uwe Pfeifer
Here the system report without the ati driver loaded. You can ignore the
"successfully generated" messages as those were from a manual try to
generate packages with the driver from the amd website.
