[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1538741] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-02-02 Thread Erik Brangs
I don't know if this is a Kernel problem but I tested a few versions from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D regardless:
- the newest broken version is
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.5-rc2-wily/ (that's the newest
version available right now)
- the first broken version is
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc1-vivid/
- the last good version is
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.0.9-wily/

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540991] Re: bugs

2016-02-02 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

** Information type changed from Private Security to Public

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540991] Re: bugs

2016-02-02 Thread Seth Arnold
Note that you may have hardware issues -- there's extensive odd entries
from your wlan card, surprising entries from your cd-rom/dvd drive, and
it's odd to me that the usb device that comes and go is named 'sda' --
it's not necessarily wrong, but it is a bit out of usual.

Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1537124] Re: dual monitor setup half second screen does not display some programs

2016-02-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
themusicgod1, as per
https://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=migr-45279
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(1.51). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark
this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1538741] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-02-02 Thread Erik Brangs
I've upgraded the BIOS to version 2.27 rev 2 from 2011 and upgraded the
kernel.

The problem still occurs with 4.2.0-27-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 22
04:49:08 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I also tested 3.19.0-43 again and wasn't able to reproduce the problem
with "sleep 1; xset s activate". So it's likely that 3.19.0-43 doesn't
have the problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1531845] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-02-02 Thread Xtien
I have been working with no problems since Jan. 20. Today an Ubuntu
update wanted me to reboot, then after reboot the computer froze when I
started Android Studio. Rebooted again, same, and again. What seems to
help is when I type

IBUS_ENABLE_SYNC_MODE=1 ibus-daemon -xrd
(from here: http://tools.android.com/knownissues/ibus)

I'm not sure if this actually works, but now I disabled ibus and I have
no freeze. The issue they report is different from what I see. For now,
I'll just never reboot my computer. I hope someone is working on the
bug. If there's anything I can do, let me know.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540997] [NEW] Input hot-plugging patches for Xephyr

2016-02-02 Thread Laércio de Sousa
Public bug reported:

Please consider including this patch series [1] for in Xenial's xorg-
server package. It's a crucial one to get single-GPU multi-seat working
in Ubuntu the easiest way (it works with all flavours that use LightDM
as the default display manager), and would be a quite valuable feature
for a LTS release, without need to maintain a forked package in Ubuntu
Multiset PPA.

I work with a large set of single-GPU multi-seat computers for
education, and I'm trying to get these patches upstreamed in time for
Xenial release, but I have no idea when Adam Jackson will get to review
it.

** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: multi-seat

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1535447] Re: Intel Graphics 4K Screen Tearing

2016-02-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
John Morris, to clarify, you upgraded the OS whose hardware is the
NUC5i5RYB (not some other computer with different parts) and this is
reproducible?

To advise, it's much easier to deal with different hardware that has
similar/same symptoms if you filed a new report with Ubuntu by ensuring you
have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for
attaching additional debugging information running the following from a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

For more on why this is helpful, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1541168] [NEW] High Definition Mice Not Working

2016-02-02 Thread TheSkunkyMonk
Public bug reported:

Please, is there an easy fix for this other than recompiling the kernel?
same issue as in this thread and same mouse. I'm missing my linux and
not to keen on recompiling just to make a mouse work. Ubuntu 14.04

"fix for this problem

include/linux/hid.h
#define HID_MAX_USAGES 12288
need to change from 12288 to 32768 and recompile kernel"
