Thanks Christopher. Am now suspecting it may be a heat problem. Turns

have a solution for that on the way & plan to try again without the
overheating. Will come back to this after the repair.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1566487] Re: Container apps should use same keyboard layout as Unity 8

2016-05-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Christopher, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xorg-server into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-
server/2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1572667] Re: Screen flickering sometimes on xenial rc

2016-05-02 Thread Richard Blum
I think I'm getting similar behavior to this bug, but I'm using LXDE,
not GNOME. Occasionally, when I resume my laptop (Acer Aspire V5) from
suspend, the graphics flicker from the mouse cursor to the bottom of the
screen. Switching to the console and back (CTRL-ALT-F1, then CTRL-
ATL-F7) makes the flicker go away. I never had this problem before
upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04.

Whenever the screen goes off due to inactivity, it cannot be woken up
by moving the mouse or hit a key.

The same ubuntu 16.04 installed on a laptop with intel graphics card
doesn't show this problem, so I guess it is related to the radeon
driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1577500] [NEW] Exiting fullscreen in applications utilizing opengl freezes entire screen

2016-05-02 Thread Ian
Public bug reported:

Whenever I exit full screen in mpv (and presumably other applications
with an opengl context) I find myself with a frozen screen I cannot
interact with, and need to switch to another TTY to restart Unity or
lightdm.

Seems as though this has already been fixed in newer versions of xorg,
so its just a matter of backporting them to whatever shipped with 16.04.

Here's a patch that's already been accepted "upstream" (not sure if I'm using
that right):
https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/72436/

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559308] Re: Plugging HDMI screen in causes system hang

2016-05-02 Thread shinyblue
Yep, 4.4.8 kernel works perfectly for me. Can change resolutions, turn
on/off displays, all works fine.

(now if only gnome was better at dealing with one hdpi screen and one
normal dpi screen!)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2016-05-02 Thread Netibqa
I had the same bug with 15.10. I used xubuntu, with awesome instead of
xfce. None of the solutions here worked.

When I had an external screen connected, the other screen would not
crash, and by going to arandr, unchecking then re-checking my main
screen would bring it back. When the screen is black, there are signs
that everything still behaves as if there was a working screen.

I reverted to 14.04 and all was fine, and now I upgraded to 16.04, and
am using xubuntu with xfce. The bug is back, and pretty frequent, but I
don't seem to see how to reproduce it (sometimes I'm just reading
something and it crashes). I disabled SNA again, maybe this time it will
work ?

I don't get how this is not a more urgent bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad

2016-05-02 Thread mambro
Dell XPS13 2016 Developer Edition here.

The patch at #59 that was perfectly working on 14.04, but it does not
work anymore on 16.04 :\ I even tried to compile the utopic version of
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-utopic (1.8.1) with the patch above.
Everything goes fine, but differently from 14.04 the thumb problem is
still there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1576685] Re: Disable touchpad while typing is not active nor can it be enabled

2016-05-02 Thread Doug McMahon
Hmm, sorry about this (I think
A number of users were complaining about this but it turns out it was more
about cursor movement than clicks
(or so combo of the cursor moving then a click on new position after timeout.
In any event it was never intended to prevent cursor movement while typing

So marking all invalid.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1528109] Re: [regression] Cursor mostly does not move at all in response to slow mouse movement, but then sometimes jumps

Seems the Mir fix is all we needed. Feels much better with Mir 0.22 on
krillin rc-proposed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573470] Re: BQ M10 tablet. Libreoffice Impress display wrong colors

2016-05-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Minor success. I've made a test available that you can use to replicate the bug
using a desktop:
https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=637f0971b191c9fbdc459f3fdb7ba5bc479b84be

So this shows the problem is triggered by the priority order of
supported pixel formats the Android platform returns. Mir's Android
platform is returning the correct values in the correct order, but it's
different to desktops, and that's enough to trigger this bug in Xorg.

It remains to be seen if the problem is an issue in Xorg that's always
been there, or just something that Xmir is failing to initialize
correctly.

Mir's Android graphics platform unfortunately does not support the same
pixel formats as desktop that would avoid this bug. However adding
ShmBuffer support to the Android platform would allow it to support all
such pixel formats (and solve other bugs like the corruption issues).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1549455] Re: Unity 8 doesn't load on Intel Pineview graphics [qtubuntu: ASSERT: "eglDestroyContext(mEglDisplay, mEglContext) == EGL_TRUE"]

2016-05-02 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Daniel, i have an Asus S10-3t netbook lying around, that according to
wikipedia has a Intel Atom N470 processor which would be a pineview?

If you want me to try some stuff I can do. If you would rather have some
form of ssh access i guess we could also arrange it.
