[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1583821] [NEW] Applications shuffling around on desktops after screen lock

2016-05-19 Thread Richard Merren
Public bug reported:

I use multiple desktops to organize open applications. Also, I am
currently using multiple monitors. If I arrange my applications (e.g.
Chrome on the laptop screen of desktop one, Geany on the attached
monitor on desktop 1, another chrome on the laptop screen of desktop 2,
another app on the attached monitor on desktop 2) and then lock the
screen, when I unlock all of the applications have moved around.
Sometimes they all move to desktop 1, sometimes they are resized and
half off the screen. But they are rarely on the same screen and desktop
that I left them on.

This is new behavior since the latest version upgrade. Previously,
applications stayed on the screens where I left them.

already tried:

installing intel's proprietary drivers: speeded up things a bit, still
didnt solve that kernel panic.

installing the following kernels:

ubuntu mainline ->

drm-next
intel-drm-next
daily

speeded things up a bit more, didnt solve the problem though.

may you please look into it.

And the title here really needs to be changed that this isn't an nVidia

2016-05-19 Thread Chuck McManis
I have confirmed that this patch allows my NUC derived systems to
recover the display when the monitor is switched off and then switched
on again. This for a NUC5i7RYH and a Gigabyte BRIX (GB-BXi5H-4200)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2016-05-19 Thread Chuck McManis
Ok I have confirmed that the patch in #115 (Saved the Patch by jkampe68
(http://bug-attachment.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=6590) as .patch file.)
fixes the issue on NUC derived systems (Intel graphics, I've got a
NUC5i7RYH and a Gigabyte BRIX) where the screen attached to the display
port output does not come back on when power is re-applied to the
monitor. The next step is validating that the screen can recover after a
"sleep state" which has been initiated by light-lock.

I pulled the git repo applied the patch, ran autogen.sh then make, then
make install. Rebooted and verified the new settingsd was running (

cmcmanis@charliehorse:~$ xfsettingsd --version
xfsettingsd 4.12.0git-56abfbd (Xfce 4.12)

Copyright (c) 2008-2011
The Xfce development team. All rights reserved.

Please report bugs to .
cmcmanis@charliehorse:~$

Power cycled the monitor, and where previously this would always cause
it to not come back, it now returns. System is Xubuntu 16.04 otherwise
vanilla install.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2016-05-19 Thread Chuck McManis
Scratch that, forgot to autogen.sh first, did it earlier but did not
repeat after resolving the last dependency. So not it compiled, on to
testing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2016-05-19 Thread Chuck McManis
Trying to implement the suggestion in #115, I've got the git repo from
xfce.org and applied the patch, did the configure which ends with:

Build Configuration:

* Installation prefix:   /usr
* Debug Support: full
* Xrandr support:yes
* UPower support:no
* Libnotify support: no
* Xcursor support:   yes
* Xorg libinput support: no
* Embedded settings dialogs  no
* Sounds settings supportno
* Libxklavier support:   yes
* Mime settings (gio-unix):  yes

But attempting a build gives the error:

make[4]: Entering directory
'/home/cmcmanis/src/xfce4-settings/dialogs/appearance-settings'
  CC   xfce4_appearance_settings-main.o
main.c:44:34: fatal error: appearance-dialog_ui.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
Makefile:667: recipe for target 'xfce4_appearance_settings-main.o' failed

So presumably there is a missing step here somewhere.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1484380] Re: Xorg regular crash on wily

2016-05-19 Thread Ljiljan Veselinovic
This bug used to happen to me too in 15.10. Now I am using 16.04 and it
is very stable (never happen in 16.04 so far). However, today I was
installing IBM SPSS 14-week trial version and x-org crashed. (The bug
report was sent automatically). X-org was crashing every time I tried to
install SPSS. Then I found on forum that "libstdc++5" should be
installed and after installation of it, I was able to finish the
installation. However, I believe x-org should not crash because of these
issues?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1535447] Re: Intel Graphics 4K Screen Tearing

2016-05-19 Thread Curtis Gedak
I don't have a 4K monitor, but the following steps fixed video tearing
with Kubuntu 16.04 on my Intel i7-2600k CPU with integrated Intel HD
3000 Graphics.

Edit /etc/environment and add the following lines:

__GL_YIELD="USLEEP"
KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=0
KWIN_USE_BUFFER_AGE=0

Save the file and reboot.

There is already a pending xorg-server in xenial-proposed that has the

I've done the verification for the one bug targeted by that SRU, so it's
a matter of waiting for it to be promoted to -updates.

instead of the overlay so we can stay in sync with X in the archive.

Note that as a workaround you can install ubuntu with another nvidia
graphic card, install the nvidia driver and then put your GTX 980 ti
card.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275416] Re: touchscreen do not work after suspend/resume

2016-05-19 Thread pebiq
Hello community,

I have the same problem with a TrekStore SurfTab Duo W2 MultiTouch
Tablet/Notebook, which is similar to a Cube i7 from China.

But somehow no solution works to make the touchscreen work after a weak
up from sleep.

Already tried much. Creating this skript doesn't work either:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190751

Has anyone an idea what to do?

Thanks in advance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1577074] Re: AMDGPU driver problems on "Carrizo" APU

2016-05-19 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
** Description changed:

- Summery: I'm having a hard time tracing this down. I updated to Kubuntu
- 16.04 (from Kubuntu 15.10 - that was using the Linux Crimson 15.12
- driver) a couple days ago on my notebook (HP Pavilion, A10-8700P APU),
- and ever since I've been having random black screens. I started
- debugging the driver, then thought it might be a DPMS issue (it's not -
- I have DPMS fully disabled currently), and now I'm back to debugging the
- driver. I don't have any remnants of the former closed Crimson display
- driver and never had an xorg.conf file (I made a small one that I'm
- using at the moment consisting of only a server layout to ensure screen
- savers, DPMS, etc are all off). The Black screen can happen any time
- from the login screen until hours later. I can ssh into the system to
- shut it down. And just discovered that if I unplug the system from it's
- power brick, I can close the lid - the system will goto sleep. When I
- flip the screen back up, the system wakes up and the screen works again
- for 1-2 minutes. I don't see any errors in the log files (well, outside
- some nasty looking ACAPI errors in dmesg).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1581626] Re: Switching to USB sound device stops USB mouse clicks from registering

2016-05-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ronald McCollam, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/xps-13-9343-laptop/drivers?os=biosa an update to your
computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (A07). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1554895] [NEW] Erratic mouse behaviour

2016-05-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 and, after a few minutes
of working, the mouse pointer goes crazy. It goes to the bottom right
corner of the screen and flickers, clicking stuff randomly.

* Adding a USB mouse and deactivating the trackpad makes no difference.
* Tried Kubuntu 15.10, problem still there.
* Tried suggestions in

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2235704
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2229831&page=2&p=13451930#post13451930

without success also.

As mentioned by other users, my laptop is currently unusable. I do not
want to switch to Windows but, given the current hardware I have, I do
not see how I can resolve this.
