[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1608729] [NEW] mouse cursor disappears on screen lock
Public bug reported: Upon returning from screen lock (typically, re-opening the laptop lid), and _after_ completing the password prompt, the mouse cursor is invisible. I can restore the mouse cursor by switching away from the X console, and back again (i.e. ctrl-alt-F1, then ctrl-alt-F7). A brief search of bug reports didn't give me a perfect match, although #1467595 matches some of the symptoms. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1510281] Re: Screen resolution not saved between sessions
I have the same problem with Ubuntu 16.04. When I log in I got the resolution of 1280x1024. I can change this to 1600x1200 and it works fine until I log out. It seems the log-in screen is also 1280x1024 which I can live with. When I log in it looks like the resolution increases temporarily because the background image shrinks and repeats itself both horizontally and vertically. But when I get my desktop the resolution is reduced back again to 1280x1024. Maybe there is some mechanism that thinks that my chosen resolution doesn't work and restore it to default? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1510281 Title: Screen resolution not saved between sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1510281/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1606103] Re: modeset driver is missing some modes that the intel driver had
Is that the right place? The modesetting driver is incorporated into xserver now, so the versions it offers to report against are very old. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1605154] Re: Horizontal wheel scrolling doesn't work on Logitech Bluetooth M337 mouse
Assigned to the kernel. Mir has no way of knowing BTN_SIDE/BTN_EXTRA are coming from wheel tilting in this case. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1605154] Re: Horizontal wheel scrolling doesn't work on Logitech Bluetooth M337 mouse
Just tried two mice with horizontal wheel support. It's only the Logitech that's broken and seems to be a mix-up at the kernel level. evtest says this about horizontal wheel rocking: Bluetooth Logitech M337: BTN_SIDE / BTN_EXTRA USB Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500: REL_HWHEEL The Microsoft Mouse works fine with Mir horizontal scrolling. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1607199] Re: Add support for apps supplying their icons at run-time
Yes, I think providing a static image once is sufficient. Like a MirGraphicsRegion. However there is no good reason to limit the number of times an app can upload a new icon. Certainly you would create bugs by limiting when and where the icon gets set. An app is allowed to set its icon at any time, and failure to honour that is a shell bug - not something we could or should ask app developers to fix if their app has worked perfectly elsewhere for years. So I understand your concern, but solving the impersonation problem is worse than not solving it :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1607199 Title: Add support for apps supplying their icons at run-time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1607199/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1607199] Re: Add support for apps supplying their icons at run-time
That kind of depends on what we want to allow apps to do - do we want them to be able to animate their icon? It does open an attack vector when apps can start impersonating another and steal credentials, for example. A static icon has the advantage of being visible on the store - and it will always be the same on your device. ** Also affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1607199 Title: Add support for apps supplying their icons at run-time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1607199/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
