[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1671799] Re: FFe: xserver 1.19.3
I've been testing 1.19.x in 17.04 pre-release for a few weeks, hoping to take advantage of the Nvidia PRIME synchronisation fix for laptops with Optimus hybrid graphics. As of 1.19.3, PRIME sync works (with a modprobe fix related to the nvidia driver). This is a huge improvement for nvidia Optimus users (i.e. most high-end laptops I suspect), since it means no more screen tearing on the laptop's LCD panel when hybrid graphics mode is activated. My testing has been on a Thinkpad P50. Really hope 1.19 gets into 17.04, and then into 16.04.3 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671799 Title: FFe: xserver 1.19.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1671799/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1217585] Re: System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240
This has been affecting my installation routines for a number of versions of Kubuntu now. I found a workaround that involves temporarily disabling nouveau until nvidia drivers can be installed: Boot from the Ubuntu installation media. When the boot menu appears : Highlight Try Ubuntu without installing and press the E key. Add the nouveau.modeset=0 parameter to the end of the linux line ... Then press F10 to boot. Having entered the desktop start the installation process, once completed restart the PC. Again. When the GRUB boot menu appears : Highlight the Ubuntu menu entry and press the E key. Add the nouveau.modeset=0 parameter to the end of the linux line ... Then press F10 to boot. Now install the latest official NVIDIA drivers. This is a bug that needs to be addressed. Anyone new to *ubuntu who encounters this would assume that installation is impossible, even using the Live Disk has become a problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217585 Title: System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/1217585/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1679209] [NEW] SDL video init unreliable with xvfb 1.19 on qemu
Public bug reported: forked from 1671799 Onscripter autopkgtests use xvfb to run some scripted tests. Onscripter itself initializes SDL, and this is somewhat unreliable on a qemu instance where the X11 connection can fail, especially if Xvfb is started via xvfb-run. The tests don't need X11, instead it can use the dummy driver which is enough for running the tests. The actual bug remains, 1.19 is for some reason unreliable for SDL where 1.18 wasn't. This will be reported upstream, as it can be reproduced on Debian as well. Real hw is less likely to hit this, much easier to reproduce with qemu. ** Affects: onscripter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: onscripter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1679209 Title: SDL video init unreliable with xvfb 1.19 on qemu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/onscripter/+bug/1679209/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
