Can someone else confirm that using this configuration file does solve
the problem? [1]

At least for me it did. :-)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner

2017-04-04 Thread Robert Joynt
I have this problem using the clickpad for an HP Omen 15-at201tx running
Ubuntu 16.10. Changing the driver from synaptics to libinput did fix the
problem, but I like coasting (kinetic scrolling) so I would like to stay
with the synaptics driver. The problem doesn't occur in Windows 10.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1679755] [NEW] [regression] xserver-xorg tries to install lots of video packages

2017-04-04 Thread Fred
Public bug reported:

I have 1.7.7+16ubuntu2 which works great for me.
Today was an updateto 1.7.7+16ubuntu3 by Timo Aaltonen.

Now the xserver-xorg package tries to pull in packages I didn't have
before.

xserver-xorg-video-all
xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu
xserver-xorg-video-ati
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
xserver-xorg-video-radeon
xserver-xorg-video-vesa
xserver-xorg-video-vmware

I didn't have these on my system before, and I don't need any of these packages
on my system.
I am content with just having xserver-xorg-video-intel and don't need the rest.

This is a regression.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1679694] [NEW] FFe: Sync with Debian 1.6.4-3 which fix CVEs

2017-04-04 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Zesty still use an old version that has not been updated since 2016/5

1.6.4-3 mainly brings:
- Fixes CVE-2016-7942 and CVE-2016-7943 (Closes: #840439).
- Cherry-pick upstream commit 20a3f99 to plug a memory leak in the
security fix.
- Update a bunch of URLs in packaging to https.
- Switch from old debhelper to dh.

http://metadata.ftp-
master.debian.org/changelogs/main/libx/libx11/libx11_1.6.4-3_changelog

Hope that FFe will be considered before final Zesty release.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1636486] Re: External screen flickers (esp. in terminals) with xorg modesetting driver on Intel Broadwell

2017-04-04 Thread Cedric M
Hey

The issue has just been solved for me in the "work in progress" Intel
kernel branch (drm-tip).

Try a kernel here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-
tip/

I hope that those fixes will be included in kernel 4.12.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1636486] Re: External screen flickers (esp. in terminals) with xorg modesetting driver on Intel Broadwell

2017-04-04 Thread Nicolas Ramoudt
After a long search for many many weeks/months, I have found this post.
I own a Lenovo T550 and tried different versions of Ubuntu's, to connect
to my 2 external Asus PB279Q (4K) via Displayport (1.2). Tried as well
via the docking-station and the DP in the laptop itself (connecting both
gives me dual 4K @60hz :). Tried monitors also separately/alone, same
issue with *exactly the same symptoms* like described here above.
Yesterday found, I even downloaded and tried the latest 17.04 (Beta 2),
issue is still present.

The screen flickering is random (goes completely black for a few seconds) doing
normal browsing work, study, etc. But the blinking considerably occurs much
more often, when the terminal window is open. It appears to be occuring
depending of the type of content being displayed (e.g. when using phpstorm in
'darcula' mode, it also occurs more). It appears the displayport suddenly goes
haywire and switches back.
Lowering working-resolution to 2560x1440 and the issue appears to be vanished.

I tried as well with the default (standard) driver, as well with the
ones I found and installed from 01.org.

I work with Ubuntu on user-level, developing web apps. I am handling
myself, never did reported these issues, so this is new to me. But
since we searched for such a long time without solution found, almost
reaching the limits of our patience, I think it's about time and worth
to report... (hoping one day for a fix/solution)

I know more or less how to reproduce the issue (although it's random, sometimes
I need patience, I can let it 'trigger' more quickly), my feedback may be of
any help? If there's some kind of instructions I can follow how to pull out
relevant logs (I'm not noob, but also not yet a guru...)
I can try to pull them out and post them here if wished/required.

@zanonmark
- two finger scroll loses the focus and start selecting/clicking in the scroll
surface randomly.
- tap to click non recognized in the title bar.
- sometimes dragging or moving selected content makes the cursor jump,
generating an
unintentional pressing/clicking randomly
