[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1750583] Re: Broken panel and launcher - all black

2018-04-05 Thread Sam_
Issue solved.
Solution:
Open Unity-plugin in CCSM.
Switch from no blur to active blur: the dash is clear - no broken graphics.
Move color from transparent up to 50 percent: all symbols in dash and launcher
appear.

@ Khursid, many thanks for your assistance and hints.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1757299] Re: [Dell OptiPlex 755] Intermittently GUI hangs with high xorg CPU% after launching applications

2018-04-05 Thread gregrwm
another occurrence, same symptoms, last evening, was watching a youtube
video.

i logged in via ssh, attached to tmux, launched htop, and started
killing as you requested, in the following order, usually signal 15 but
sometimes 9 if so noted below, if the name is postfixed with -- that
means the process did not disappear from htop, --Z means the "S" column
in htop then showed a Z, ++ means it was immediately respawned:

pulseaudio
pavucontrol
bluetooth-manager
xclock
xterm (this one did disappear)
vncviewer
x-window-manager-- (ie twm)
accounts-daemon
bluman-applet
xterm--Z
firefox-esr
ssh
rtkit-daemon
systemd-udev++
systemd-logind++
ssh-agent--
systemd-timesyncd++
systemd-resolved++
cron
bluetoothd
systemd --user
polkitd
login -p

at this point the console blanked and presented a login prompt. ctl-
alt-Fn still would not function, however i was able to login at the
console and attach to tmux. xorg remained on the process list still
consuming cpu as evident in the htop display at this point:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1746740] Re: XPS13 L322X Bionic (daily dev) touchpad laggy

2018-04-05 Thread Ekinoks
Hello,

Same problem here with my XPS13 L322X: I installed the daily dev version
yesterday.
The installation of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics reduces the problem (the mouse
is a little more fluid, but does not correct it).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1757299] Re: [Dell OptiPlex 755] Intermittently GUI hangs with high xorg CPU% after launching applications

2018-04-05 Thread gregrwm
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

The problem is that after launching a few applications, the GUI may
become unresponsive, although this is not consistently reproducible.
When the GUI is unresponsive, it is correlated to high CPU utilization
  of xorg.

An example reproduction scenario is launch the following in order, and
quickly:
  startx
  xterm via twm
another xterm via the first xterm
  tmux
  firefox-esr
  bluetooth-manager
  pavucontrol

While the above are launching, maximize the xterm running tmux, and the
GUI immediately becomes unresponsive. For example, Ctrl+Alt+Fn don't
  respond.

After this, I logged in via ssh, attached to tmux, launched htop, copied
htop output, which shows xorg at 94.6 CPU%.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] Re: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop

2018-04-05 Thread Luke Williams
** Description changed:

Tried to install Bionic Desktop on my Asus GL703VD ROG Laptop with
NVIDIA GTX 1050M Video Card (with i915 Intel graphics card when not
using 3D) and the installer does not display. I have tried
nouveau.modeset=0 and nomodeset boot options to no avail. I was able to
finally install Bionic by hooking up the laptop to a projector, but
after a reboot, the laptop display still did not work and I had to set
- the account to autologin otherwise I could not loging to the laptop. I
+ the account to autologin otherwise I could not login to the laptop. I
then install openssh-server so that I could ssh into the laptop and I
- installed the nvidia-390 drivers from ppa:graphic-drivers/ppa which
+ installed the nvidia-390 drivers from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa which
installed, but still no local display.

In Artful, I could install with the nouveau.modeset=0 and then
installing the proprietary NVIDIA drivers and everything (except
  touchpad, LP: 1738263) worked.

lspci shows the graphics card and NVIDIA card, and lsmod does show that
before NVIDIA drivers install, it is using nouveau, asus_wmi, and i915
for graphcis, and once NVIDIA drivers are install, lsmod only shows i915
and asus_wmi for graphics while nvidia is used for gpu and 3D, but still
  no display on the laptop.

lsmod_prenvidia.txt shows the nouveau driver and the /proc/cmdline
lsmod_nvidia.txt shows nvidia drivers installed and the /proc/cmdline
  lspci.txt shows the detected hardware
lshw.txt shows the hardware in the laptop.

Please let me know if you need any other information.

  Thanks,
  Luke

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761415] [NEW] X/video stream freezes once a while

2018-04-05 Thread Pekka Ahtonen
Public bug reported:

System: T400s with external Dell Ultrasharp 25" monitor in DisplayPort.

When I boot ONLY the laptop dmesg output is clean, but once I connect
the external monitor I will get the following. The same call trace
appear also occasionally, when video streams freeze totally while the
audio is playing.

This might be related to earlier similar problems, but didn't find
exactly same, so reporting a new bug.
