Hi Dave, I'm using the new kernel (4.13.0-39-generic) and I still get
the error (though my laptop did start up once without the error).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1731911] Re: Xwayland crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xwl_read_events() from ospoll_wait()

I'm still seeing crashes under the exact same conditions as since
October. When I do ubuntu-bug on the crash file it directs me here, so I
think this bug may still be getting triggered for me at least.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1754693] Re: Xwayland crashed with SIGABRT in st_renderbuffer_delete()

2018-04-24 Thread Caleb Lloyd
I just ran updates on my 18.04 machine today also and can confirm Slack
is working under Wayland

Here is my Slack Snap Version:

commands:
  - slack
snap-id: JUJH91Ved74jd4ZgJCpzMBtYbPOzTlsD
tracking: stable
refreshed: 2018-03-30T18:45:51-04:00
installed: 3.1.1 (6) 98MB classic

If someone can tell me how to print out the affected Wayland component
version I can post that also.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1766558] [NEW] Multiple Flashing Mouse Pointers

2018-04-24 Thread John Rose
Public bug reported:

When I move the mouse, multiple flashing mouse pointers appear on the
display. Sometimes they disappear in a few seconds and sometimes they
stay for minutes or until I've moved the proper pointer to another app.
This only happens when I'm using a USB SSD to boot and start Ubuntu. I
presume that the bug is in xorg.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-04-24 Thread Nguyen Xuan Viet
I still encounter this issue after upgrade my bionic to the latest update.
The only way to boot to graphic shell is config to using lightdm as default.
Now I'm in unity session and try to install nvidia-396 to see if it fix this
issue.

On an up-to-date 18.04 machine today I can no longer reproduce this
crash. Could someone else confirm the same?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1764087] Re: Wrongly boots into low graphics mode

2018-04-24 Thread Dave Goldsbrough
Now this is interesting!
As part Ubuntu updates the kernel was updated on 23rd April 2018 to
4.13.0-39-generic #44~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 5 16:43:10 UTC 2018 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

On 3 consecutive occasions no the laptop has booted fine!

I decided to look around /ver/log and noticed this for the first time
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1929 Apr 24 09:04 gpu-manager.log and I now attach it
for anyone to see.

If you look at this log you will see that it provides many negative
answers to questions regarding which graphics card is present. But this
small extract here shows that it eventually found "/dev/dri/card0".

Vendor/Device Id: 8086:46
BusID "PCI:0@0:2:0"
Is boot vga? yes
Skipping , driven by "i915"
Skipping "/dev/dri/card0", driven by "i915"
Skipping "/dev/dri/card0", driven by "i915"
Found "/dev/dri/card0", driven by "i915"
output 0:
card0-LVDS-1
Number of connected outputs for /dev/dri/card0: 1
Does it require offloading? yes
last cards number = 1

If you recall, this bug was reporting that card could not be found and
was therefore booting into low graphics mode.

So, is my system fixed? Has the new kernel fixed it?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1766480] Re: Touchpad scroll and middle/right click not working as expected

2018-04-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The settings you refer to are intentionally disabled by default, because
they conflict with modern clickpad usage. But they are still available
if you want to turn them on.

To enable edge scrolling look in:
 Settings > Devices > Mouse & Touchpad > Touchpad > Edge Scrolling = ON

To enable button areas:
 1. Install package 'gnome-tweaks'
 2. In Gnome Tweaks > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse Click Emulation = Area

You may also be interested to try the alternate touchpad driver (only
works in Xorg sessions) by adding/removing package 'xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics'.
