[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1785959] [NEW] Xorg crash

2018-08-07 Thread Fergus Incoronato
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
-> About Ubuntu

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release:18.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center

$ apt-cache policy xorg
xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1
  Candidate: 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1
  Version table:
 *** 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 500
500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:7.7+19ubuntu7 500
500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages

3) What you expected to happen

When I open the lid I expect the system to resume without logging me
out.

4) What happened instead

When I close the lid of my laptop the system suspends (as intended), and
when I open the lid the system resumes (as intended).

However, if I don't suspend manually before closing the lid, on system
resume it seeems like I get logged out of my X session.

2018-08-07 Thread Prefernot Tosay
** Description changed:

  Horrible screen flicker from login screen and after login. 18.04.1 LTS.
- I have two similar laptops, both Lenovo Ideapad 720s 13IKB,
- model 81A8 - Core i5 7200U - Intel HD Graphics 620 Rev 02 - works fine.
- model 81BV - Core i5 8250U - Intel UHD Graphics 620 Rev 07 - awful screen
flashing.

+ Flickering visible on video here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HCN73q1nQfgstgVBA
+ I would describe as lots of random-looking colours in horizontal lines, as
though the wrong memory was being mapped to the screen. Happens
constantly/sporadically every second or two. (under zero / negligible load).
Looks low-level, not associated with windows / graphics artefacts.
+ Problem does not occur under Windows(TM) 10, nor with grub editor, but does
occur with console. (I can video the boot if it helps)

  I've used ubuntu-bug so I believe you have all the details of the
  machine. The install came straight from your standard 18.04 download.
  Any changes are due to me trying to fix this (not much prev exp of
  kernel params etc)

  Things tried but which didn't work were:
  enable huc/guc (got it to load but no change)
  enable_rc6=0 (just stopped sleep / resume working)
  edp_vswing=2
+ upgrade bios to  6MCN27WW (was -18WW I think)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1782285] Re: Add missing libGLESv1_CM.so to Bionic

2018-08-07 Thread Kyle Brenneman
Just because Mesa doesn't provide GLESv1 doesn't mean other vendor
libraries can't. It certainly isn't any reason to prohibit GLESv1
support if a vendor library would otherwise be able to support it.

Conversely, having the full set of libglvnd libraries (including
libGLESv1_CM.so) doesn't require vendors to support every flavor of
OpenGL.

If you remove libGLESv1_CM.so, then any driver that does support GLESv1
would have to install its own copy of that library. Two drivers that
support GLESv1 would then end up overwriting each other or playing
symlink games to switch between them. The whole point of libglvnd is to
avoid that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1760450] Re: [nvidia] Xorg crashed with signal 7 in _dl_fixup() from _dl_runtime_resolve_xsavec() called from nvidia_drv.so

2018-08-07 Thread Alan Jenkins
Hi Vedant. Change the line in /etc/default/grub e.g.

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"

to

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet scsi_mod.scan=sync"

and then re-run update-grub.
