[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875712] Re: Unusable graphics, nouveau + G73 (GEForce 7600)

2020-07-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sadly I think you are right. Fixing the nouveau driver, and particularly
for older cards, is an open-ended problem.

Officially Nvidia only supports the GeForce 7600 hardware in driver
version 304. But driver version 304 is too old for inclusion in Ubuntu
20.04.

A newer Nvidia card (and using the latest proprietary Nvidia driver)
would also have solved the problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1888810] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 screen tearing intel graphics

2020-07-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This could be one of a number of bugs.

If you are using the old 'intel' driver then it's bug 1867668.

If you are using multiple monitors then it's bug 1853094.

If you are using fullscreen apps then it's bug 1754284.

If none of the above then this should probably move to the window
manager ("marco"?).

Is there any workaround I can perform to make this desktop usable? Other

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1889102] Re: Bug with Applications menu

2020-07-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. What menu are you talking about exactly?
Could you make a screenshot or video showing the issue? (using a phone
could be a good solution in such cases)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1889102] [NEW] Bug with Applications menu

2020-07-27 Thread Treve Winchcombe
Public bug reported:

I have noticed a bug with the applications menu. I am having a weird
issue with adding apps into folders on the menu. If I try opening a
folder, the entire screen glitches out and the bar on the right-hand
size showing how many pages are on the menu show more pages than there
actually is.

Occasionally if I try adding or removing an app to a folder, the entire
system freezes. The only way I am able to get things back to normal is a
forced restart by holding down the power button.

The only way I have been able to not come across this issue is to have
no folders in my menu at all, which took a while as the system kept
crashing during the process. However, I am no longer experiencing the
issue with no folders, but it returns when I try creating a folder.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1889100] [NEW] Screen bug

2020-07-27 Thread Treve Winchcombe
Public bug reported:

I have this weird screen bug that was not present on Windows, the OS I
used before Ubuntu. I have reinstalled Ubuntu but this has not fixed the
issue. When scrolling or watching a video in full screen, there are two
bars that appear in the middle of the screen widthways.

The bars are transparent but you can still see the outline of them and
they also move around slightly meaning it can be quite distracting. The
bars are not there when doing other tasks like general work like web
browsing and email unless you scroll.

It seems to only be an issue when a large part of the screen has to
refresh at any one time.

2020-07-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

  apport-collect 110

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1889015] Re: display crashes sometimes when click on firefox or settings

2020-07-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read 'How to report bugs effectively'
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!
