[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1952800] Re: System freeze on unplug

2021-11-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately you have many unsupported
packages installed that are not from Ubuntu but from a PPA (LP-PPA-
devacom-gnome-40). Please remove that PPA from your system and then if
you continue to have problems open a new bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1949553] Please test proposed package

2021-11-30 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libdrm into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/2.4.107-8ubuntu1~20.04.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Yes this is a 12 years old bug but here is fix:
Either add "acpi_rsdp=0xf7f70 acpi=rsdt" to your kernel command line parameters
OR flash the patched BIOS at https://badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1088210
for a permanent fix.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1890815] Re: vainfo requires a nvidia sofile not in repositories

2021-11-30 Thread Norbert
Please finally fix this bug by SRU or something. Rebuild VLC, vainfo and so on.
It continues to happen - see questions like
https://askubuntu.com/q/1378418/66509 even with fresh Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
(20210819) installation.

Moreover I have just confirmed this bug while running vainfo on Ubuntu MATE
22.04 LTS on VAIO F13Z1 with Nvidia GT425M using 390.144 video driver. Can't
play a video with VLC player (see attached log). It is unbelievable.
Fixed by using package from 18.04 LTS as follows:

```
cd ~/Downloads
wget -c
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/v/vdpau-video/vdpau-va-driver_0.7.4-6ubuntu1_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install ./vdpau-va-driver_0.7.4-6ubuntu1_amd64.deb
```

But it absolutely unexpected for newbies and inexperienced users.

/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/mwe/example-movie.mp4 file"

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1675628] Re: launchpad filed to launch

2021-11-30 Thread Paul White
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not
always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely
manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time. Your problem may have been fixed with
some of the updates.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

Due to the time that has elapsed since your initial bug report I'm
changing the status to 'Incomplete'.

If this issue is still present in a currently supported release of
Ubuntu then please add a comment here telling us which new version it is
in and change the bug status to 'New'.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1657349] Re: That's all

2021-11-30 Thread Paul White
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not
always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely
manner.

This seems to be a 'master' bug, with several duplicates. for issues
without an adequate description of the issues(s) the reporters were
seeing.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

I'm closing this as 'Invalid'. New bug reports should be created which
*fully describe* any issues that are being seen in currently supported
releases of Ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1948528] Re: Mouse pointer doesn't reach left edge of screen

2021-11-30 Thread Paul White
Kenneth, raising bug reports against the Ubuntu project will seldom
attract the attention of an Ubuntu developer that can assist in helping
with the issue that you are experiencing. To ensure that the right
people see a bug report, *every* report should identify the software
package related to the bug.

I'm moving this bug report to the (somewhat default) 'xorg' package so
that a member of the Desktop team will review your bug report and will
reassign to package which is appropriate for the issue that you have
experienced.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1948528] [NEW] Mouse pointer doesn't reach left edge of screen

2021-11-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In the live-boot USB stick of Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 LTS:

My mouse pointer does not visually reach the left edge of the screen.
Logically the pointer functionality does reach the left edge, in the
sense that it can select and copy text that extends to the left edge,
but the pointer cannot be viewed performing this action; the displayed
pointer stops (appears frozen) about two millimeters from the left edge.

The pointer reaches the upper, lower, and right edges of the screen
without any problem.

My mouse and screen are brand new. My computer is 5 years old (launch
2016, purchase 2019).

I have the same problem with my Linux Mint (Cinnamon and Mate desktops),
which is based on Ubuntu. I perform regular updates to the system. The
file /var/log/Xorg.0.log does not show any errors or warnings related
to the mouse.

The problem in Linux Mint persists even if I change:

- Screen resolution
- Theme
- Windows settings (Focus mode)
- General settings (VSync method, Compositing)
- Mouse acceleration and sensitivity
- Disabling of all Effects

Note that there is no problem with the mouse pointer with a live-boot
USB stick containing Linux EndeavourOS.
