[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1204246] [NEW] External display nonfunctional

2013-07-23 Thread Kyle Kingsbury
Public bug reported:

On a Dell Sputnik (XPS13, second generation), an accidental upgrade to
13.04 caused my DisplayPort external monitor to stop working. This is an
Intel i915 adapter. Rebooting and re-plugging the display in various
combinations hasn't helped; and neither does detect displays in gnome-
control-center. Xrandr shows the external display as unconnected, and
doesn't recognize any external modes for it. I think this could be
related to #1165965. I've attached my xorg log; nothing immediately
obvious stands out, except that it thinks DP1 is disconnected.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1204246] Re: External display nonfunctional

2013-07-23 Thread Kyle Kingsbury
Erm, disregard all that, like N hours later I discovered that the
display's power button and reconnecting the DP cable weren't enough--
finally unplugged the whole display from wall power, in desperation, and
it came back online just fine. Must've been a false correlation with the
upgrade, or just some transient screwed-up state in the display's
circuitry triggered by a reboot. Sorry!
