[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 962217] Re: [pineviewgm] Only black screen with mouse pointer on connected external screen to laptop, locks at unplugging
Now the external screen works, but after disconnecting it, I loose the internal screen (and once unmovable mouse pointer on black screen). ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: When I connect an external screen, only the mouse pointer is visible on black background. A workaround is to press CTRL-ALT-F1 and then CTRL- ALT-F7. When I then disconnect the cable, the internal laptop screen is stuck with non movable mouse pointer and locks completely. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 773138] [NEW] Two finger scrolling not working with touch screen using evdev driver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev I am using a Gigabyte T1005 that seems to support 2 finger positions (and thus I can't test the 3 finger based gestures that are supposed to work in Natty). I would expect to be able to scroll using 2 fingers like on the touch pad (which is hidden behind the screen in tablet mode...). Maybe the direction should be opposite (like it is in MS Windows), the screen scrolls in the same direction as the fingers. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
I guess the problem is that there are more than one symptoms contained in this bug and probably more than one bug in possibly xorg and the kernel. The best would probably be to have one bug open for each, but getting users to respect that is problably hard and maybe we don't even know. Anyway I want to get this solved. First I want to know if it is a kernel or xorg bug for me and then try to ask the right people/mailinglists for advices. Digging at the kernel code, I suspect it might be caused by the interrupt handler for the keyboard to take too long to finish and while it works no new key releases can be handled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Japp, that is the same I see, but the freedesktop describe it as you need to restart X server to stop it. And some see the bug using USB keyboard too, but for me only with the integrated keyboard. And for some the problem is a regression. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 769103] Re: Keys sometimes get stuck in X server on Gigabyte T1005
I tried to solve this problem for the pure terminal outside of X. First I tried: setterm -repeat off which disabled repeating and then naturally no duplicates. Then i turned it on again and tried: kbdrate -d 1000 and I could then no longer reproduce any non intentional duplicate keypresses. But what was more surprising is that I after having done that setting no longer could reproduce the problem inside the X server either! The -d setting could problably be 500 or 750 instead. It is set permanently in /etc/kbd/config (KEYBOARD_DELAY). Ideally we should have this set to a higher value than 250 for this laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769103 Title: Keys sometimes get stuck in X server on Gigabyte T1005 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Running kbdrate without the -r option seemed to reduce the rate to 10 (from default 30) as well. Not sure if reducing of both of those are involved in reducing the risk of seeing this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
Regarding the bug severity, I can only agree on that given that we have the workaround of disabling keyboard repeat in the X server settings. Without that, depending on the frequency it happens, it can make the PC almost unusable or at least too unpredictable to trust, i.e. you always risk, like when I am writing in this text field to loose all when I am correcting one typo if I don't react in time, close all tabs in the browser when typing ctrl-w (since this shortcut starts CPU load, the bug occurence actually increase at exactly that time, as with tab completion in terminal).
