[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432949]
(In reply to Marek Olšák from comment #30) > The patch is correct from the LE perspective. It simply adds ARGB support > and was tested thoroughly on LE. The side effect is that BE can use the > format now too, but there may be other issues with BE. Makes sense. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432949]
That piglit sanity is failing with the patch may confirm my suspicion that something doesn't add up yet I'm afraid: Since the kernel driver and xf86-video-ati EXA code are using the same hardware formats for display/rendering with BE & LE, I was wondering how the patch could result in both display and glReadPixels working correctly for winsys buffers. Looks like indeed only display works correctly, which indicates that the GPU is effectively writing/reading PIPE_FORMAT_x8R8G8B8_* pixels like PIPE_FORMAT_B8G8R8x8_* (which is what the kernel driver and EXA code are using). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432949 Title: r300 Mesa driver not loading with KMS enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/1432949/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Indeed, but that's just a bug of the DRM_INFO call. :) (Type mismatch between format string and values) I'm attaching the fix as I submitted it for inclusion into the kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/929960 Title: Mouse cursor corruption when switching users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/929960/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929960]
(In reply to comment #7) I got the source for xserver-xorg-video-ati from the Ubuntu repositories and tried to apply the patch to it. That can't work, as the patch is for the kernel, not the X driver. You should be able to get the source for your running kernel with apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r) I've also never tested a kernel mod so I'm not sure what I would do if I got the patch to compile. Boot the patched kernel (or load the patched radeon kernel module) and try to reproduce the problem. Look for the message from comment #6 in dmesg. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/929960 Title: Mouse cursor corruption when switching users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/929960/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929960]
Created attachment 58312 Verbose test patch with crash fixed (In reply to comment #9) This patch causes my computer to crash at login. However, it's not a super bad crash because I was able to ssh in and check dmesg. Sorry about that, here's another test patch which shouldn't crash.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782]
(In reply to comment #18) I have not yet applied Alex's patch, [...] Have you been able to test it in the meantime? It doesn't seem very likely it'll help, but... However, setting the vramlimit to 64 seems (2 reboots later) to clear up the corruption. vramlimit of 128, 256, and 0 (0 is ignored) each result in corruption Can others affected by the problem confirm this? Can you attach the dmesg output from with and without the working vramlimit? (In reply to comment #19) When switching from tuxracer back to the native desktop mode 1366x768, the pointer was corrupted. [...] Happily the first time a popup happened that covered the cursor for a moment it was restored. Sounds like that was just intermittent corruption of the hardware cursor memory buffer then, e.g. due to a 3D driver bug causing it to be accidentally overridden. Probably not the same problem this report is about. BTW, I am a C programmer... If I knew where to start, I'd love to work on this problem from a code angle. I've looked at the code somewhat, but even in the code specific to my driver there is a lot of code in different places. See e.g. rs690_mc_init() in drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/rs690.c . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 Title: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/556782/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755791]
(In reply to comment #98) I have this problem with my Radeon 9600XT No, you probably don't. This problem is (was? Looks like this report can be resolved now?) specific to RS690 chipsets. Please file your own report with the usual information attached, i.e. at least Xorg.0.log and the output of dmesg and glxinfo from when the problem occurs (and maybe also from when it doesn't). Please also describe in more detail what exactly 3D acceleration doesn't work means in your case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755791 Title: [RS690M] No 3d acceleration in Radeon X1200 with new Gallium r300 / 3d drivers in 11.04 (Needs kernel quirk) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/755791/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
