Doesn't this pretty well establish there's undue risk with going forward with
10.3 this late in the cycle? Also, I don't see where the FFe was approved, so
I'm not sure why this got uploaded?

Since kwin upstream has told us they won't support kwin4 with mesa 10.3, is
there anyone who could fix problems if they occur after this lands?

After a reboot the Window Manager Settings - Desktop Effects dialog

accept mouse input or allow me to resize it. More testing is needed.

I was tempted to suggest that if someone volunteered to deal with the kwin

late in the cycle.

If there's no opportunity to copy it in, then it can be an SRU.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1019444] Re: Update Precise to mesa 8.0.4 (bugfix micro-release)

2012-10-17 Thread Scott Kitterman
ScottK mdeslaur: Would it make sense to copy the mesa in precise-proposed to
-updates and you base off of that? Except for your comment about the security
issue, it's otherwise ready to release.
mdeslaur ScottK: huh? bryce said there are issues with the package in
-proposed
ScottK Hmm.
ScottK All the bugs are marked verified.
mdeslaur ScottK: well, if that's the case, it should get pushed to -updates
ScottK bryce: Should I remove mesa from precise-proposed so it doesn't get
released by accident?
-*- ScottK waits for bryce.
bryce ScottK, there are no known user issues. The problem is that a couple
test cases changed behavior. According to Intel those are test suite issues
not indications of user affecting problems
ScottK So you'd recommend to release it?
bryce ScottK, I'd have no problem releasing it. It works fine on the
hardware, aside from the piglit irregularities (which would be hard to track
down)

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1013171] Re: xdiagnose run in python3, but not ported

2012-06-14 Thread Scott Kitterman
The rt update script that is triggering this is from one of
python3-defaults packages. That's why the bugs get attributed to
python3-defaults.

The actual problem is that apport was just updated to python3, but not
all the hooks provided by other packages have been updated.

The reason your first upgrade worked was because it was before the
switch.

Yes and Yes, after you check if there's an existing bzr branch with a fix for
this. There was a Python 3 porting sprint this week and not everything has
been uploaded yet from it.

Thanks. I've added them all to the bug.

I know there's an xdiagnose port for Python 3 in work, so don't bother
trying to fix that one.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 995524] [NEW] Periodic X lockups on Dell Latitude E6320

2012-05-06 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

This has been happening once every day or two since I upgraded to
Precise. Next time it gets wedged and I'm somewhere I can ssh into it
and collect additional information, I'll be glad to.

The visible symptom is that the screen and mouse freeze (or if it
happens while I'm away from the computer it just doesn't come back on).
The keyboard is active at some level because the backlight still comes
on when you press a key. Switching to a VT does not, however.

from under it when the GPU reset and disabled acceleration which mesa
couldn't cope with (that specific kwin segfault is fixed in mesa 7.12

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 820370] [NEW] Tries and fails to remove /etc/gdm

2011-08-03 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

This is from my apt-term log after upgrading from natty to oneiric:

Preparing to replace x11-common 1:7.6+4ubuntu3.1 (using
.../x11-common_1%3a7.6+7ubuntu6_all.deb) ...^M
Unpacking replacement x11-common ...^M
dpkg: warning: unable to delete old directory '/etc/gdm': Directory not empty^M

It's not clear to me why x11-common thinks it should remove /etc/gdm
(also not clear why I have /etc/gdm since this is a Kubuntu system
that's never had Ubuntu installed) or what was in there that prevented
it's removal. After the upgrade, the directory is, in fact, empty, so
this looks like some kind ofsequencing issue. Full term-log attached.

You might consider doing an ifdef for not on windows (even in your Ubuntu
