[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1995761] Re: Xorg crash

2022-11-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1991117] Re: 13.3.0-3build1 fails to build from source

2022-09-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for the work Nathan.

Checking upstream is it seems they fixed it differently in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-
vmware/-/commit/77b8183b ... maybe it's better to cherrypick the
'official' solution?

Also please tag the patches you add (https://dep-
team.pages.debian.net/deps/dep3/), it helps understanding why we have
them later on and try to forward fixes to Debian (in that case the
package is in sync and there is no reason the fix shouldn't land in
Debian, which would benefit them and us by not having to merge again
later)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1969396] Re: Right Alt not working reliably as compose key unless the layout in effect is first in the list of sources

2022-06-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
While an annoying issue and a regression, it's impacting some
configurations only and is workaroundable so we are not going to handle
it as a rls issue. We will work on trying to provide a fix if possible
though

can we used instead

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1976249] Re: `xvfb-run` doesn't support `--auto-servernum`

2022-05-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. The script isn't part of upstream xorg-
server, where did you see that --auto-servernum has been deprecated?

The script for Debian (and such Ubuntu) is on
https://salsa.debian.org/xorg-team/xserver/xorg-server/-/blob/debian-unstable/debian/local/xvfb-run

it seems fedora also has a copy which they patched some years ago to mark that
option as deprecated and add auto-display instead, unsure what was the
motivation behind the change though

Determining whether a bug report is actually a support request can be
quite challenging, but if you decide the bug is a support request you
can convert it to such by clicking "Convert to a question" at the top of
the bug's web page. This will mark the bug as "Invalid", create a new
question in the answer tracker and link it to the bug. In the comment
dialog that you receive, post a comment to inform the reporter about
your action, and advise them to use the support tracker for any future
problems.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

It is also a good idea to change the source package beforehand if it's
set incorrectly, so that the question will be associated with the
correct package in the answer tracker, or edit the question afterwards
and assign it to the correct package. If it doesn't pertain to a
specific package, change it to "Ubuntu".

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1967602] Re: intell error

2022-04-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu
that you are using.

Thank you!

2022-03-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for the bug report. It seems like a fix worth cherrypicking
but could you maybe give an example of impact the issue has which is
user visible? It would help especially for a stable update to have a
testcase to verify the fix and to justify the importance. If it's not
impacting anyone in a visible fashion then maybe it's not such an issue

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1947168] Re: important

2021-10-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher

Thank you!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926173] Re: Wacom crashes Xorg

2021-04-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926110] Re: Apps interface flickering

2021-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, do you remember what packages got updated
at the time the issue started (the /var/log/dpkg.log record could help
figuring it out)? Could you try if starting an older kernel
(https://askubuntu.com/questions/82140/how-can-i-boot-with-an-older-
kernel-version) makes a difference? What videocard, driver and desktop
environment do you use?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926144] Re: Flickering screen

2021-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921991] Re: [SRU] Support isdv4-aes stylus group and multiple AES stylus definitions

2021-04-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Chris, about 20.10, not SRUing desktop fixes to it at this point is a
decision, the topic was discussed in the past on
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-release/2019-March/004728.html
and the SRU team confirmed it shouldn't be an hard requirement. The
cost/benefit for us to deal with the extra work on a non LTS serie about
to become non current isn't just not worth it

launchpad bug so didn't get closed, right?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1924184] Re: drive not showing

2021-04-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher

Thank you!

2021-04-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Bin, thanks for the work there. By SRU rule the issue needs to be fixed
in the current serie first. Are the patches in 1.8/hirsute? If not could
you prepare a debdiff for that serie?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1920052] Re: pdftopcf missing

2021-03-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report

> The package is installed but command-not-found keeps suggesting it.

The wording might be a bit confusing but what it states is

'Command 'pdftopcf' not found, did you mean:

command 'bdftopcf' from deb xfonts-utils (1:7.7+6)'

Basically the pdftopcf command you are trying to use isn't available but it's
suggesting bdftopcf which is close enough in naming in case you did a typo and
that's what you meant.
Checking for pdftopcf on the upstream xorg gitlab has no result, are you sure
that utility exists?
