[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1804206] [NEW] lock screen desabled by an application

2018-11-20 Thread Tedesco
Public bug reported:

When you lock the screen by mouse click on the 'lock icon' you can experience
the pop up of the message:
"No se pudo bloquear
Una aplicación impidió el bloqueo"
=> To lock wasn't possible
An application disabled the blockage

On the photo attached you see this situation.

To reproduce this phenomenon is complicate, it depends on the number of windows
and the position of the left window on the screen area. And perhaps the focus
of the first window.
In this case these two windows are virt - viewer applications.
With windows of the Firefox it wasn't possible to produce the situation.

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
I don't know if it's the design or something wrong, with more than 1
virt-viewer window open you can't block the screen.
And the key-combination Alt-L don't block the screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
 reboot SUCCESS!!!

We have back the display and the movement of a window without any problems on
left, right and bottom.
But there is a difference to the 16.04 LTS version: Here in 18.04 you can't
grab a window in the inner area with help of the Alt-key like in 16.04

OK, but what’s about the background?
I have still desktop and server with ubuntu to upgrade to 18.04.
Do I have to make the same configuration by hand?

Form information:
On Friday I tried to use the source code of mutter-3.28.3 and I got to one
status with ./configure.
This doesn’t make a difference with configuration of "WaylandEnable=false"?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
ok, my situation her at work is, that I have to use this computer, we taking
about, for data-treatment.
And as I decided last week to upgrade from version 16.04.x to 18.04.1 I got the
display problem.
But fortunately I can still use the computer like a server with my
data-treatment inside but without display.

Despite of this experience I confirm I prefer use Ubuntu OS instead of
Windows OS.

The data treatment is still running

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
As I mentioned before, I have neither keyboard access nor mouse functions, but
I get into this box by a ssh connection from another linux box.
The configuration file looks like:

# GDM configuration storage
#
# See /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas for a list of available options.

[daemon]
# Uncoment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg
WaylandEnable=false

# Enabling automatic login
# AutomaticLoginEnable = true
# AutomaticLogin = user1

# Enabling timed login
# TimedLoginEnable = true
# TimedLogin = user1
# TimedLoginDelay = 10

[security]

[xdmcp]

[chooser]

[debug]
# Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging
# More verbose logs
# Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
#Enable=true

But for the reboot I have to wait to finish a heavy data treatment on this box.
(The 'only' think is the missing display.)

If it is not possible to recover the display and the possibility to

What kind of information from the box could be useful?

OK, before working on your to do list .

Yesterday with an update (Start-Date:2018-11-15 13:49:41) on this linux box
there where ...libegl-mesa0... in the list of modules.
There where no indication of restart required but I reboot the system and
the graphic was frozen.
See picture attached.
There was no possibility to use the mouse or the keyboard to get out of this
state.

But with ssh I can connect in.

You will find also the file var_log_apt_history.log where you find the
re-installation of the ubuntu-gnome-desktop (Start-Date: 2018-11-14
11:49:00) which results in recover the screen graphic.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1803504] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2018-11-15 Thread Tedesco
Public bug reported:

Moving a window, on the bottom of screen there is a zone of 2 or 3 cm you can't
pas the window.
The down movement is blocked and the mouse cursor with the closed hand moves
down into the inner window area. When you try to move the window ones again
upwards you will see a broken graphic part of the window as background and the
graphic structure of the window get lost. All these movements with the left
mouse bottom pressed.
But:
If you move first the window to the left border and forward out of the screen
area you can move the window down without the graphic problem. If at least a
small part of the window is outside of the left screen area you can move the
window up again passing through the bottom zone of 2 or 3 cm without problems.
On the right-hand side of the screen area these movements are impossible.

A big problem you will have with a windows virtual machine in full screen mode.
You can't use the bottom menu.

(This week y made the upgrade from 16.04.n to 18.04.1 with big graphic
problems, black screen etc.
Then reinstall gnome from command line solved the problems with black screen.)

The downgrade also is working for me. No crash since I downgraded and
locked xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to 1.5.99.902.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()

2012-08-10 Thread Daniel Tedesco
Downgrading xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to version 1.5.99.902 did not fix the
issue for me.
I just opened the lid after a suspend of approximately 40 minutes and got
kicked out to lightdm
about 30 seconds later.

2012-08-10 Thread Daniel Tedesco
Disregard comment #46. The package had been upgraded again during the following
update.
I have now locked the version to 1.5.99.902 and will see how that behaves.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()

2012-07-24 Thread Daniel Tedesco
The steps I do to reproduce it are:

- Boot up Ubuntu, log in to Gnome shell via LightDM.
- Close the lid of the notebook.
- Wait. (*)
- Open the lid of the notebook.
- Log in via the locked screen login prompt.
== After a ~5-10 seconds I'll find myself back in LightDM, on the next login I
get the error report telling me about the SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty().

(*) It seems that opening the lid directly after closing it does not
trigger the problem. But when the lid was closed over a few hours, it
happens pretty much every time.

What kind of information do you need from me?
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430s with the new i5 Ivy Bridge architecture. Ubuntu
12.04, Kernel 3.50, Gnome Shell (but the behaviour was the same in Unity). I
can provide more information if you need it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 598567] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIChangeDeviceProperty() on resume from suspend to ram - synaptics_drv error

2012-07-22 Thread Daniel Tedesco
I have a similar problem. After waking up from suspend (i.e., after
opening the lid), I can log in via the Gnome-Shell Locked Screen, and
after a few seconds find myself back in LightDM. It doesn't happen every
time ... usually after I have closed and opened the lid several times.
It seems that it crashes more often after the lid was closed for a
longer time (i.e. not only seconds). When I open the notebook in the
morning (after being suspended for ~7 hours) , it always crashes.

I'm on a Thinkpad T430s.
Ubuntu 12.04, Kernel 3.50, Gnome-Shell.

The error I get in apport is

Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIChangeDeviceProperty(),
the package is xserver-xorg-core.

I'd like to attach the log, but I don't know how to do this. :-)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()

2012-07-19 Thread Daniel Tedesco
I also get this message. I'm on 12.04 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T430s.
X usually crashes after suspending/waking up the notebook a couple of times .

I open the notebook, type in my password, and after a few seconds in
Gnome-Shell am thrown back into LightDM.
After logging in again Apport tells me that /usr/bin/Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV
in XIGetDeviceProperty().

This is driving me nuts. I'd be happy to provide error logs etc.
