[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774188] Re: Unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds in Xorg sessions (not so much in Wayland sessions)
I occasionally see this on two separate 18.04 installations using Xorg sessions. The time to unlock varies from a couple of seconds to several minutes. Everything other than unlocking the screen feels to work at a normal speed. I can reliably reproduce this issue (cause screen unlocking to take several minutes) by reading files from my Android 8 phone over USB (phone in "Use USB to transfer files" mode; Ubuntu directory /run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host...). (Probably not related, but this file transfer seems extremely slow.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work
Update to comment #66: Turning ccsm Commands off (comment #63) was not a permanent fix for me. All my shortcuts died again today. Turning Commands on and then back off restored my shortcuts for now (no log-out required), although last time I did this on two separate machines, they both crashed within a day--not sure if there is a connection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libxkbcommon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1224732 Title: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/1224732/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work
This problem has been bugging me for a very long time--custom and media keyboard shortcuts occasionally not working; logging out and back in usually fixes it. Comment #63 fixed it for me immediately (did not have to log out). :-) To be clear, I ran CompizConfig (search for ccsm) and, under the General category, unchecked the checkbox next to Commands. What's more, this same procedure fixed the PrintScreen button on another computer (both Ubuntu 14.04.2). I have not tried re-enabling CCSM Commands.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()
The except for scrolling phrase from ThomasNovin really caught my attention because, on two laptops using xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.5.99.902, I have seen the touchpad become inoperable except for scrolling. I have both configured for two-finger scrolling, and when this happens, it switches to 'one-finger scrolling' with no way to move the pointer position. Sometimes it is fixed with sudo modprobe -r psmouse; sleep 2; sudo modprobe psmouse but sometimes this crashes Xorg (back to login screen). What is different, however, is that rather than happening at resume, it happens randomly, perhaps more during high CPU usage. It seems to me that the 'one-finger scrolling' is a different bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956071 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/956071/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 788317] Re: Xorg freeze, blank screen, mouse moves, VT works
I have this maybe twice a month since 11.04--black screen with active mouse pointer. After typing my password, mouse pointer changes as I move it to different parts of the screen. Banshee keyboard shortcuts work to start/stop music. I eventually discovered that I could recover without a reboot via ctrl- alt-F1, log in, type killall -9 compiz, ctrl-alt-F7, and wait several seconds. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 240738] Re: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad
I think the problem is that most people never actually figure out what is happening well enough to be able to locate this bug report. I agree --it must be affecting many more people. As well as the MacBook mentioned at the top, it also affects both of our two other laptops. That is 100% of our laptops which are from 3 different manufacturers. On one laptop, we've had to disable tap-to-click, making the touchpad less useful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240738 Title: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/240738/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 632293] Re: ubuntu certified hardware misleading, and key contributor to lack of progress on bug #1
I bought the V13 specifically BECAUSE of Ubuntu's certification with 10.04 and 10.10. However, the laptop is unusable because of this touchpad issue. Reading through Fuggum's research (see also http://www .mail-archive.com/dell-recov...@lists.launchpad.net/msg00030.html) and doing a lot of my own, I have just about decided to give up and try to get a refund from Dell.
