[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 520226] Re: Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard and logitech mouse initialization conflicts
After upgrading to 2.6.32-13-generic, the machine failed to boot and I had to do a manual update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.32-13-generic while booting from the old kernel. After doing that initramfs, the system booted and the Natural 4000 keyboard behaviour returned to be the same as with Karmic. The keyboard and mouse work with each other if the mouse is plugged in into a PS/2 port. However the mouse still doesn't work, apparently due to a conflict with the Natural 4000 keyboard, if I attempt to plug it into a USB port instead. -- Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard and logitech mouse initialization conflicts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 520226] [NEW] Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard and logitech mouse initialization conflicts
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev This may or may not be related to bug #295849. I have a Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard with a USB connector and a Logitech Mouse which can be connected either via USB or PS/2 mouse connector. The two devices don't seem to work well with each other if both are connected via USB (the keyboard won't work in X but works on a console). With 9.04 and 9.10, I used to be able to have the keyboard and mouse coexist if the mouse was connected via PS/2. However with Lucid 10.4 Alpha 2, neither works and the behaviour is different depending on whether the machine just did a coldboot or a warmboot. If I remember correctly from my testing: With both USB mouse and keyboard, the keyboard works but the mouse doesn't. If the mouse is hot-unplugged and replugged then both work, but this isn't sustainable since it eventually will wear down the contacts (not to mention looks pretty stupid to anybody else). Warm-booting with a PS/2-connected mouse, the USB MS Natural 4000 keyboard doesn't work if it's the only thing plugged in, but will work if I also have a PS/2 keyboard plugged in. Cold-booting with a PS/2-connected mouse, the USB MS Natural 4000 keyboard doesn't work if it's the only thing plugged in, even if I have a PS/2 keyboard also plugged in. In all cases, the keyboard works when selecting boot options in grub. I suspect this might because (if I remember correctly) the Natural 4000 implementation sets up a fake mouse to handle input from some keys (the zoom slider maybe?) and that may be causing confusion with the real mouse. I'll attach some Xorg and dmesg logs of the three different startups (cold boot and warm boot with PS/2 mouse, USB Nat 4000 Keyboard, and generic PS/2 keyboard; coldboot with only USB keyboard and mouse) ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard and logitech mouse initialization conflicts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thanks. I was starting to wonder if it might be something specific to the Karmic PPA and was getting ready to try to upgrade to Lucid when I saw your post. I've just finished upgrading to Lucid and will now try to rebuild Wine packages from the PPA source since the Wine PPA doesn't have support for Lucid yet. -- [xorg-edgers] after rebuilding, Wine doesn't get same results with DRI R600 as glxinfo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/515933 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 515933] Re: [xorg-edgers] after rebuilding, Wine doesn't get same results with DRI R600 as glxinfo
Note that the referenced WineHQ bug report contains wine debug traces by other users of the R600 and R300 drivers which show the correct values for Client GLX vendor and Direct rendering enabled, but who probably aren't running Ubuntu w/ PPA updates. So either this is a problem with the Ubuntu PPA or with my installation thereof. However the fact that I get the correct values from glxinfo would seem to make the latter less likely. -- [xorg-edgers] after rebuilding, Wine doesn't get same results with DRI R600 as glxinfo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/515933 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 515933] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] after rebuilding, Wine doesn't get same results with DRI R600 as glxinfo
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm trying to rebuild Wine to develop a patch to better handle Mesa DRI R3/600 drivers from the xorg-edgers PPA. What happens is that the glx data Wine retrieves after recompilation doesn't match what I see in glxinfo. For more info, see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21515 where the attachment named "running wine initialization with +wgl,+winediag" shows the results Wine gets. At minimum, the GL version, Client GLX vendor, and Direct Rendering enabled values seem to be incorrect compared to what glxinfo returns (which appears to be correct). trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo GL version : 1.4 (2.0 Mesa 7.8-devel). trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo GL renderer: Mesa DRI R600 (RV670 9505) 20090101 TCL DRI2. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo GLX version: 1.2. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Server GLX version : 1.2. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Server GLX vendor: : SGI. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Client GLX version : 1.4. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Client GLX vendor: : SGI. trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering enabled: False I'm not sure what could be causing this. I grabbed the wine sources using apt-get source wine That also installed a whole bunch of dev package dependencies, and I eventually noticed they were grabbed from the main inventory. I since tried to update the xorg dev packages to the git versions from the PPA but it hasn't made any difference when running subsequent rebuilds.
