This bug still persists. I am on Lubuntu 3.16.0-62-generic
#83~14.04.1-Ubuntu x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux. Dragging icon from
Firefox 45.0 causes mouse pointer duplication and more. Please see
attached picture. Has any progress been made on this bug. Thanks for
your assistance in advance.

I am using 14.04 with gnome-fallback-compiz DE and it happens to em.
the only way to get rid of the giant thing is to reboot or perhaps log
out and back in. I keep forgetting and doing it again, like 4 or 5
times now. I had an image ,rather large, 100 px sized, and extremely
annoying cursor with the 2 arrows at top until I rebooted

Addendum to my last comment. The only way I can get the cursor to do
that is when an image is open in Image Viewer and i forget and try to
drag it , then the cursor changes into that image .

My cursor was stuck that way ., it was approx 100px in size and a small
version of the image I had open in Image viewer I clicked and moved my mouse
while left clicked (drag) and my cursor turns into the image in image viewer
I am using 14.04 with gnome-fallback-compiz DE current desktop . I just read
this , did a ctrl - alt-t and my cursor was restored, Always before I had to
reboot to get rid of the giant cursor and correct the problem.

This affects me too. I had 3 cursors upto, I took a screenshot and then
I got distracted and went to download gimp. I am not sure exactly what
made the 2 extra cursors go away, whether it was ctrl+alt+t or putting
in sudo apt-get install gimp, or putting in my password, but after I'd
done all thatI noticed the extra cursors were suddenly gone.

I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 (installed ubuntu first then installed lubuntu
over it)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1396361] Re: Double Mouse Cursor

2015-03-23 Thread strange1712
Fresh Installed Lubuntu 14.10 (x64) has this issue. I consider it to be
essentially the same as

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1393169

It happens more frequently in drag operations.
This is my mother's old laptop so I won't be able to report any further.

Note: The cursor is restored to normal if you get to a terminal
(Ctrl+alt+F1) and then return to X (Ctrl+Alt+F7).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1396361] Re: Double Mouse Cursor

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Dale, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1396361

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Just confirming I am also affected by this bug since upgrade to Utopic;
I usually see it start upon click-drag in Firefox (35.0.1), and it
happens using a couple of external mice or the touchpad. Only left
pointer is responsive; log out and back in resets the problem but it re-
occurs right away. This is a clean upgrade from Trusty with no broken
packages etc. on a fully up to date BIOS etc.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1396361] Re: Double Mouse Cursor

2015-01-26 Thread A. Richard Miller
This bug also affects the Nautilus file manager (and Image Viewer,
Fotoxx, more).

Click and drag any image icon. Presto! Your mouse cursor is changed into
a smaller version of that icon, with an arrow in its upper left and a
second arrow in its upper right. This is nice while you're dragging.
But, and this is the new probem, you then remain stuck with that weird,
wrong mouse cursor until you log out of the session or shut down!

This wrong behavior seems restricted to Ubuntu 14.10; 14.04 remains
okay. (I use 64-bit Ubuntu Desktop on various PC computers.)

Fotoxx double mouse cursor when dragging an image:
 - problem does not happen on OpenSuse 3.2 with GTK 3.14
 - problem does not happen on Ubuntu 14.04
In both cases the same binary executable was used that has this problem in
Ubuntu 14.10

2015-01-20 Thread Mike Cornelison
Fotoxx executable built on Ubuntu 14.10

  execute on Ubuntu 14.10:
mouse never loses a program-assigned cursor (pixbuf image)
mouse accumulates additional cursors whenever assigned

execute the same identical binary (without rebuild) on Ubuntu 14.04:
no problems, works as it should
