Daniel Lipowicz, thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Natty reached EOL 
on October 28, 2012.

Please try these 3 things independently:
1) Create an /etc/X11/xorg.conf with this contents:
Section Device
  Identifier myradeon
  Option SwapbuffersWait False
EndSection

2) Create a .drirc file with this contents:
driconf
device screen=0 driver=dri2
application name=Default
option name=vblank_mode value=0 /
/application
/device
/driconf

3) This would work in Ubuntu 10.10 but I think not in 11.04 (gallium needs KMS):
Boot with adding this to the kernel options in the grub menu: radeon.modeset=0
