Things do appear to be more stable. However, before implementing this change, I asked apport to not report on errors of this kind any longer (was getting them non stop). Not sure how I can reverse that. Sorry, the mails where being archived in spam :S I changed my machine (an Asus k55). In the Toshiba the problem was resolved with the last kernel package. For me this seems to happen even when screen not locked.
