[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 989347] Re: [BUG: ../../dix/getevents.c:850 in scale_to_desktop()] black screen if second monitor is connected in HDMI.
Kyle, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 989347] Re: [BUG: ../../dix/getevents.c:850 in scale_to_desktop()] black screen if second monitor is connected in HDMI.
I don't tried with second monitor (my card have 2 DVI and 1 HDMI output), but it affects me when switching video modes in nvidia-settings or any application like a game that goes full screen and so on. It don't affect inmediately I must change a lot of times videomode and sometimes I have luck and freezes my desktop. Xorg using 100% CPU and screen frozen in the last draw. I cannot do Ctrl+Alt+F1 but I can login via ssh and killall Xorg -s KILL (without -s KILL don't work). With previous version (not precise-updates) I get the freeze inmediately or only two or three times I change the videomode. It appears that with this version is more stable but still have the bug. Ubuntu 12.04 Fresh install but updated packages. xserver-xorg-input-evdev version: 1:2.7.0ubuntu1.2 (precise-updates) Video GeForce GT 440 NVIDIA 295.59 manually installed. With nvidia-current I have some apparent problems of unstability so I decided to install the recomended version from NVIDIA manually. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/989347/+attachment/3247967/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989347 Title: [BUG: ../../dix/getevents.c:850 in scale_to_desktop()] black screen if second monitor is connected in HDMI. Same here, nvidia card+nouveau driver. I can reproduce the error with: xrandr --output VGA-1 --above LVDS-1 most other xrandr commands work. (I have HDMI port here but it is not used at the moment, only laptop screen + external VGA) xrandr hangs, I can still ssh into the machine. I'm using Xfce 4.10. Graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3670 system is Dell Studio XPS 16. Anyway, it worked initially until after the kernel received it's second update automatically. OS would not start with monitor (HP 2310m) plugged into HDMI. If plugging in after the fact, OS would crash (could make it as far as logging in.) Tried open source and fglrx - no success. Reinstalled 12.04. Still same problem. Now reverting back to 11.10. - --- + --- .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, resize, imgpng, snap, gnomecompat, compiztoolbox, grid, mousepoll, vpswitch, place, regex, session, animation, unitymtgrabhandles, wall, expo, move, workarounds, fade, scale, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz DistUpgraded: 2012-05-19 01:40:57,077 DEBUG enabling apt cron job - DistroCodename: precise - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 + DistroCodename: preciseDistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: - Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3670] [1002:9593] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0272] - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) + Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3670] [1002:9593] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0272]InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MachineType: Dell Inc.
