Miro doesn't seem to be part of Ubuntu so this is not a 'bug' as such.

However, the answer you want is here:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1755103] Crash report cannot be processed

2018-03-12 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

no debug symbol package found for perl-base
no debug symbol package found for perl-base
no debug symbol package found for libnvidia-gl-390
no debug symbol package found for xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-390

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1755188] [NEW] system freeze after update

2018-03-12 Thread trailingedge
Public bug reported:

On legacy NVDIA machine, after CCSM update 28 Feb 2018, system would
freeze with either soft-boot or hard-boot required.

If able to switch to console/terminal, and run "TOP", the table showed COMPIZ
maxing out at 100%.

As a workaround, I had to :
1. switch to lowgfx under "preferences" in CCSM
2. under OpenGL, switched off a. SynctoVblank" b. "Framebuffer object" c.
"Vertex buffer object" and d. "Always use buffer swapping"
3. under Composite, set refresh rate at higher values, settling on 89

Running nouveau driver, and firmware update.

The system freeze was most likely using LibreOffice5 (latest stable
version).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1750937] Re: 4.4.0-116 Kernel update on 2/21 breaks Nvidia drivers (on 14.04 and 16.04) by an insufficient compiler!

2018-03-12 Thread fu2qi4
How to install the latest gcc compiler without pain

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test # the best
remedy whatsoever
sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:jonathonf/gcc-7.2# (also
broken
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1009433/dependency-issues-while-installing-gcc-7-3-from-jonathon-fs-ppa)

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:jonathonf/gcc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gcc-8 g++-8 # will install 7.3.0-5ubuntu1~16.04.york0
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-8 40 --slave
/usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-8

As Asus ROG user i'm aware of ongoing struggle with Nvidia driver, which
is in conflict with Devian-based systems (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=nvidia-driver;dist=unstable
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852152  ).

I disable NVidia card editing boot config

(Restart your computer and enter BOIS (hold down f2)
Change boot priority to boot to your USB Stick first.
Save and reboot
When the grub boot loader menu is visible highlight “Try Ubuntu GNOME without
installing” (use your up and down arrows)
 Press “e” on your keyboard, this will allow you to edit the boot config.
nouveau.modeset=0 tpm_tis.interrupts=0 acpi_osi=Linux
i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 idle=nomwait

Run the command: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get
-y
dist-upgrade
Remove all Nvidia installs(if any), run this command:
sudo apt-get purge nvidia*
 Run the command: sudo apt-get install nvidia-361-updates nvidia-prime
 Reboot: sudo reboot

I used boot-repair software https://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair/home/Home/
It was indispensable

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-03-12 Thread Burt P.
Regarding #43, #44, #51, here is what I did:
* Reset the grub config file
* Removed all nvidia* packages
* Reverted everything to the standard bionic as described here:
https://askubuntu.com/a/229663
* Removed all the old package information using: dpkg --purge `dpkg
--get-selections | grep deinstall | cut -f1`
* Installed nvidia-driver-390: apt-get install nvidia-driver-390
* Restarted

Everything seems to work.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1755232] [NEW] Xorg crashes when tapping Unity system tray icons

2018-03-12 Thread krzychoocpp
Public bug reported:

This bug requires some prerequisites to reproduce:

0. Make sure you've got multitouch-enable display
1. Start Unity+xorg session
2. Verify that four-finger tap gesture works (shows unity app search tool)
3. Wait some time for this gesture to stop working - this is another bug, not
necessarily xorg one, already known and thought to be connected with Google
Chrome running.
4. Once it stops working, quickly tap all icons in the Unity system tray like
you would be pretending to play a piano (tapping them individually or slowly
does not cause any problems).
5. Xorg crashes immediately.

This scenario is 100% reproducible on my setup.

I recompiled xorg with debug info enabled and got this nice trace:

Incomplete. Looks like it came from an older version of libinput so
we'll wait and see if this reoccurs or has already been fixed.

Shouldn't this info be included in the original report that ubuntu-bug
creates? It would remove the step of asking it later in the bug report

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1749689] Re: Lenovo Yoga 11S touchpad is jittery

2018-03-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Fixed in libinput master. Not sure when the fix will be released...

commit 1523d8bb2e066bec297f7a03ce4a0d8cada8f383
Author: Peter Hutterer
Date:   Mon Mar 5 13:17:43 2018 +1000

Extract and reset the abs fuzz value for the x/y axes

The kernel fuzz handling is buggy, especially when we want to rely on the
fuzz
value for our hysteresis. But since this is a hw property and (at least
sometimes) set by the driver, we can't make this a pure libinput hwdb set
either.

So our workaround is:
* extract the (non-zero) fuzz into a udev property so we don't lose it
* set the fuzz to 0 to disable the in-kernel hysteresis
* overwrite our internal absinfo with the property fuzz

This way we get to use the hw-specified fuzz without having the kernel muck
around with it. We also get to use the EVDEV_ABS_ values in 60-evdev.hwdb to
override a driver-set fuzz.

Two drawbacks:
- we're resetting the kernel fuzz to 0, this affects any other users of the
  device node. That's probably a minor impact only.
- we can only save this in a udev property there's a risk of this
information
  getting lost when playing around with udev rules. That too should be a
minor
  issue.

commit 1b64888a2248af2a287365598cf520e4e2be33fd
Author: Peter Hutterer
Date:   Fri Feb 23 11:44:23 2018 +1000

touchpad: enable hysteresis based on a 0 fuzz value

If the fuzz is 0, assume we don't need hysteresis and use the wobble
detection
code instead. If the fuzz is non-zero, enable it by default.
