https://www.dropbox.com/install?os=lnx ). I opened the packages one by one with
gnome-software and pressed Install - nothing, except for a super-quick progress
bar animation, happened. No matter how many times I tried, same result. Also,
an icon pops up on the panel saying "Waiting to install", but nothing seems to
happen.

This only seems to happen with third-party packages; installing a

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1575339] Re: Gnome Software catalog entry missing for Scribus

2016-04-27 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
I know nothing about this stuff, and I'm not that sure I'm interested in

If this is about the file that goes in /usr/share/appdata/, upstream added it
some days ago in their SVN repo. If somebody is particularly interested in
having it, I'd welcome a patch for it.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1575793] [NEW] Indian Rupee symbol at U+20A8 (₨) instead of U+20B9 (₹)

2016-04-27 Thread Thomas Jollans
Public bug reported:

The Linux Libertine fonts include the Indian Rupee sign (₹) at U+20A8.
However, this code point is meant for the old rupee symbol (₨, like Rs).
This symbol is used for the currency of Pakistan and sometimes those of
other countries. In this context, the Indian symbol ₹ is incorrect and
shouldn't be used. The correct codepoint for the symbol of the *Indian*
rupee is U+20B9.

Other fonts have these symbols in the right places.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupee#Symbol and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_rupee_sign (which make no sense
when the font is set to Linux Libertine)

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1573206] Re: GNOME Software does not install third-party .deb packages

2016-04-27 Thread Mathew Hodson
There hasn't been a new release for xenial or yakkety yet. When a new
package is released, the bug status for the Ubuntu task should be
updated automatically, so you shouldn't need to change it.

** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Released => Triaged

I intended to install MEGA Sync Client, Google Chrome and Dropbox by
downloading the needed packages from their websites (respectively
https://mega.nz/#sync and https://www.google.com/chrome/ and
https://www.dropbox.com/install?os=lnx ). I opened the packages one by one with
gnome-software and pressed Install - nothing, except for a super-quick progress
bar animation, happened. No matter how many times I tried, same result. Also,
an icon pops up on the panel saying "Waiting to install", but nothing seems to
happen.

This only seems to happen with third-party packages; installing a
  random deb from packages.ubuntu.com/xenial worked.

I even tried to reinstall the system to make this work, but same
  problem.

Gdebi, however, installs the packages as expected.
