[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1970481] Re: After an update about a month ago audio through my Focusrite 2i2 is "chirpy" and distorted.

2022-04-26 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
Well, because you reported the bug against the website, which makes it
automatically invalid. Additionally, most things are support issues
until they can be proven that they're actually bugs.

  After an update about a month ago audio through my Focusrite 2i2 is

Status in Ubuntu Studio Website:

Bug description:
  After an update about a month ago audio through my Focusrite 2i2 is
  "chirpy" and distorted.

  It worked prior to whatever update came down the pike about a month
  ago.

  As I say, audio playing through my USB Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 is
  "Chirpy" and distorted. If I listen with earbuds out the laptop's
  analog output the audio sounds fine.

  This is out of the headphone jack on the 2i2 and out of the balanced
  TRS on the back. The interface works fine with every other computer in
  the house. Tested on 3.

  I am running Ubuntu Studio 20.04 LTS on a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop.
  Kernel version is:

  5.13.0-40-lowlatency

  I just tested again and there seems to be a sample rate issue as well.
  In addition to being distorted the music seems to be slower and lower
  in pitch.

  I didn't make any changes I am aware of to ANY configs on this laptop.
  This just started suddenly happening after an update.

Of course. I should have searched harder, but I'm just baffled by the
choice of making this bug claim invalid and saying it's a SUPPORT issue.

Just baffling.

  [Impact]

  Users of Carla are unable to refresh audio plugins when more are
  installed, i.e. in the user's home directory. Furthermore, this can
  cause Carla to crash.

  [Test Plan]

   * Launch Carla
   * Click "Add Plugin"
   * Click "Refresh"
   * Click "Scan"

   Expected: Carla will scan for new plugins and find them.

   Actual: Carla does not scan for plugins, and may crash.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * The patch may just plain not work, in which case we may have to do
  a wholesale upload of Carla 2.4.3 instead as opposed to simply
  patching 2.4.2 with the cherry-picked commit as uploaded.

   * The other thing this might do is cause the application to cease to
  function, though this is highly unlikely.

  In the LV2 location in my home directory .lv2 I have the following
  plugin:

  ➜ ls ~/.lv2

  ${HOME}/.lv2 is configured in Carla as a search path.

  In the Add Plugin dialog for Carla if I search for noise nothing shows

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1969798] Re: Carla can't find plugins in plugin directories located in the user's home

2022-04-26 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Brian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted carla into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/carla/2.4.2-0ubuntu3
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
