Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (clean install). 64-bit. Final release.

  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I intended to install MEGA Sync Client, Google Chrome and Dropbox by
downloading the needed packages from their websites (respectively
https://mega.nz/#sync and https://www.google.com/chrome/ and
https://www.dropbox.com/install?os=lnx ). I opened the packages one by one with
gnome-software and pressed Install - nothing, except for a super-quick progress
bar animation, happened. No matter how many times I tried, same result. Also,
an icon pops up on the panel saying "Waiting to install", but nothing seems to
happen.

This only seems to happen with third-party packages; installing a
  random deb from packages.ubuntu.com/xenial worked.

I even tried to reinstall the system to make this work, but same
  problem.

Gdebi, however, installs the packages as expected.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1382843] Re: corrupted double-linked list

2014-12-02 Thread Jim Nelson
This problem appears to be associated with the Ubuntu Online Account
(UOA) integration with Shotwell. Yorba's version (w/o UOA) doesn't have
this bug.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1382843] Re: corrupted double-linked list

2014-12-02 Thread Jim Nelson
The Yorba PPA is at https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ubuntu/ppa but
only has 0.20.2 for 14.04 (Trusty). Our Daily Build PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ubuntu/daily-builds) has 0.20.2
for 14.10 (Utopic), but note the warnings at the top of the page about
that PPA.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1382843] Re: corrupted double-linked list

2014-12-02 Thread Jim Nelson
As policy we don't release builds for same-version packages in Ubuntu's
repos to avoid name and version conflicts. (In other words, since
shotwell 0.20.2 is in the 14.10 repo, we don't release 0.20.2 for 14.10
in our PPA.) That decision is complicated with Ubuntu maintaining their
own fork w/ UOA for Shotwell, but it's just how it goes.

Another possibility would be to download the 0.20.2 tarball from GNOME,
build it, and run it directly from the build directory (that is, you
don't even need to install it). I know that's more painful but it would
give a way to test the issue.

[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1335600] Re: Publishing to flickr broken since api.flickr went https-only

2014-08-27 Thread Jim Nelson
@Danny you're still using 0.18.0 which does not have the Flickr fix.
You'll need to upgrade to 0.18.1 for it. I don't know if Ubuntu plans
on backporting the fix to Trusty but a version for 14.04 is available at
Yorba's PPA, https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

I suspect your issue with accounts has something to do with Ubuntu
Online Accounts, not Shotwell. Note that the version on our PPA does
not use UOA.

Bug description:
  * Impact
  the flickr integration doesn't work

  * Test case
try publishing photos to flickr from shotwell

  * Regression potentiel
the code only changes the flickr integration, test that the feature is working

  ---

The flickr api went to https only on June 27th 2014. It appears the
shotwell is still using http so publishing to flickr no longer
  works.

  https://code.flickr.net/2014/04/30/flickr-api-going-ssl-only-on-june-
  27th-2014/

Problem appears to be present in:

  Shotwell 0.15.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 13.10
  Shotwell 0.18.0-0ubuntu4 on Ubuntu 14.04

Error is as follows, within a second or two of hitting the publish
  button.

Publishing to Flickr can't continue because an error occurred:

Service http://api.flickr.com.services/rest returned HTTP status code
  403 Forbidden

To Try publishing to another service select one from the above menu.

I last published a week ago with no problems.

Maybe this is intentional to not mess up the file structure.

Shotwell only seems to setup the folders for month/year once when I
import the files. When I change its date, the pictures stay in the
  same folder.
