SECURITY minister Betty Akech is responsible for the arrest of the two MPs charged with murder, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) vice-chairman Prof. Morris Ogenga Latigo has said.

FDC has lined about 20 lawyers to defend Reagan Okumu (Aswa) and Michael Ocula (Kilak) who are in Luzira Prison, FDC spokesperson Wafula Oguttu told the party's weekly press briefing at Najjanankumbi yesterday.

Oguttu said some lawyers had volunteered to defend the MPs while others had been hired. They include Wandera Ogalo, Sam Njuba, Peter Walubiri, and Opar Donge.

Latigo (Agago) said, "I hold Honourable Betty Akech 100% responsible. I challenge her to prove that she is not."

Akech could not be reached for a comment yesterday. She was reportedly in a meeting in Lira.

Latigo said, "Akech is the minister for security. She said investigations were going on. She is aware," he said.

He said the charge against the two MPs were fictitious, concocted by the Government and indefensible.

Latigo feared that he might also be arrested.

FDC leaders disputed reports that former ESO chief David Pulkol was quitting FDC.
