Re: [Unattended] SATA controller driver?

2006-09-11 Thread Brad Erdman
Just as an FYI, this CD did not work on a Dell PowerEdge 2950. It seems
it does not have a network driver/model for it.

[Unattended] SATA controller driver?

2006-09-06 Thread Josh Fornwall
Hello everyone,

We've been using Unattended happily for several months. Due to
acquisition woes, we are now being forced to use HP dx2200s instead of
the Dell Optiplexes we are used to. The newer Dells had a problem with
their SATA drives being recognized which we circumvented using a BIOS
compatibility mode. The HPs don't have this. As such the boot process
is dying at:

*** ...and locate the boot device
Unable to determine boot device at /usr/bin/find-boot-device line 212.
*** find-boot-device failed
*** Dropping to shell
bash-3.00#

I try rerunning /etc/master which leaves me in the same place. I have
also tried building a new boot disk from the latest CVS snapshot (there
are some out-dated packages in the Makefile download process), but that
dies starting the io scheduler.

The chipset is ATI Radeon Xpress 200.

Does anyone know how to fix the SATA controller issue?

Try the gentoo boot cd here:
http://unattended.technikz.de/index.php/Main_Page#2006-09-01_unattended-gui_
boot-cd_0.1

And maybe you should switch over to SATA combination mode in your BIOS.

Hope this helps!
