Re: [Unattended] unattended-gui Version 0.20 release planed

2005-04-15 Thread John G. Heim
Hi,
I'm new to this list having just joined yesterday evening.
I'm wondering if the developers are aware that the unattended system is, as
far as I know, the only way for a blind person to install Windows without
sighted assistance. I'd have mentioned it anyway but I am alarmed by the
mention of a GUI in the message below.

I found out about this system for doing unattended windows installs just
last week and was able to install Windows on a PC via the unattended system
and a PC Weasel card. This card acts like a PCI video card but the output
is to a serial port on the card rather than to a VGA monitor. I have a
serial cable connected to another PC running a terminal emulator and this
allows me to see what is appearing on the screen.

This would not work with a GUI. So I hope you never abandon the text interface.
One other note, Maybe I am doing something wrong but I am not getting a
serial console when I boot from the linux CD. maybe someone can check that
it should work. If you say it does work, then I will double check my set up.
