[UC] BIDS, bailouts and consumers

2008-10-10 Thread Glenn moyer
Consumers,

A couple years ago, the subjects of the UCD had an early warning about
corporate trickle up economics called the BID. The neighborhood would collapse
if we did not allow Penn Real Estate to tax the poor, no questions asked.
Accountability and questioning the need for the money were simply the rants of
an ignorant mob of mostly criminals.

Recently, Mr. Wolfe published a letter in the DP reminding us that Penn Real
Estate/UCD thumbed its nose at the laws of the US. To this day, no
explanation, no transparency, no policies, and no accountability have been
offered to the subjects and consumers of the occupied district, showing that
corporate Penn is indeed above the law, just like Wall St.

Like the bailout, you are to sit around like helpless animals as the powerful
corporations stand above all law and demand tribute while they scare and
threaten you.

UCD is now taking more money from all to give to the few. They will keep 2/3’s
of grant money for themselves, which could be put to good use in the city by
credible organizations. The other third will be used to hurt businesses on
Baltimore Ave while rewarding cronies who wish to maintain “the vision” and
demand unquestioning loyalty to corporate power.

Why are people clamoring about the trillion dollars now? It’s, take from the
oppressed poor and give to the ruthless rich, that our neighborhood has
championed for so long.

So lazy little consumers, pay your BID tax and send the trillion on its way!

Please understand, I’m a leftist wanker who should be death rayed by the gang
from the censored Penn list. But ask yourself, who will get the death ray next
before the corporate paradise and your lattes go to hell?

From an elite member of the intelligentsia,
Glenn

[UC] 0/11/08 : Saturday Porch Sale at St. Francis

2008-10-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Dear Neighbors,
Is there anything more fun than a Bargain?
Perhaps Bargains purchased in cooperation and competition with neighbors.
On Saturday 10/11/2008, from 11-4 PM, St. Francis de Sales is holding its
TWENTY FIFTH Annual Porch sale. The Sale is inside the School Hall, a
magnificent pre-Deco space. Enter from the tall front steps at 915 S. 47th or
from the Parking Lot, which has an entrance on Farragut Terrace.
Vashti will once again produce a tasty lunch, of Chicken Wings and Hot Dogs,
to be sold at temptingly low prices.
Donations of Baked Goods are sought, to plump up the offerings at the Treats
table.
26 Vendors (some neighbors) have already signed up to sell their goods. Tables
are still available if anyone wants to use this holiday weekend to declutter
their own homes. Call Ruth McGettigan at 215-735-1393 to rent a table, (cost
is $25.00) or to arrange the donation of items that she can sell at the
Parish table. Set-up takes place between 9 and 11 AM, so Vendors might have
time to scout for the best buys, before the doors open to Buyers.
Last year I scored some fun games, great books, and a wonderful book shelf. I
just missed out on a small Wine Fridge, from Sharper Image. It was new, in
the box, and sold for $25.00. It probably retails for close to 10 times that
much.
The gathering of neighbors, in pursuit of a good value is fun. For those not
familiar with SFDS it is comparable to the wonderful communities that intersect
at the Farmer's Markets.
I hope many of you find your way to a good experience and a great deal!
All the best!
Liz
P.S. I think Calvary, at 48th and Baltimore, is holing a Porch Sale at the
around same time, and I heard about a private sale that might take place on the
500 block of 47th Street, for which a lot of cool, old costume jewelry and some
excellent China will be available.

[UC] Spies, cops, end of liberty

2008-10-10 Thread Glenn moyer
Dear activists,

The federal spy agencies are using the local cops to destroy dissent and attack
activists. If you watch Democracy Now, or democracynow.org, you will know
about these attacks by Maryland and Baltimore cops discussed in the NY Times
editorial, the fusion centers around the country, and the military unit for
domestic deployment.

In Philadelphia, the “francisville four,” some kids against police brutality,
were attacked by LI, Philly’s finest, and homeland security earlier this year.

This link is about the system in psychiatric research. This is the reason that
researchers look for new pills for addicted individuals instead of helping them
with their real problems. I saw this system first hand.

Be careful, the facist shift is proceeding rapidly,

2008-10-10 Thread Gail Massey
Saturday, October 11th, Ring of Fire Productions will be filming
movie scenes on and around building rooftops in the vicinity of 16th

Street) and stunt men acting as SWAT agents. The agents will be
suspended from the aircraft and will be shooting blanks throughout
the day, starting at 5:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM.
These helicopters will be outfitted with film cameras and marked with
