Title: More Bogus Ticketing

Kimm,
You are right that this process is a violation of our right to due process.
Currently, Igot 3 before I received the first noticevia the mail 4 months later. I probably have morebeing processed, as may you. The issuing officer scribbles his name so I can't give you his initials. His badge number is 948 but hewrites an 8with more scribbling after it.
He or sheuses a stamp: "Your premises is littered with trash, litter and/or debris. You must clean and maintain your property"
My tenant, responsible for trash day,has been in the building for 30 years. He doesn't do any violation. Just like when this happened at my house, it is bogus. I've had thisbuilding for9 yearsand never a problem. (Another tenant in the building told me the whole block is gettingtickets now.)

I askeda municipal court judge for an investigation more than a year agoand was told it would be forwarded to the President judge for action. (The recent wave of ticketstells me that they didn't investigate).
These tickets havebeen in thenewspapers and our elected officials know all about this and do nothing. it is an enormous waste of our time as well ascity and court resources.
We either need to band together and file a class action lawsuit against the city or perhapscall the FBI because of the additionalorganizations involved in our area. There are many many people around the neighborhood, and in fact the entire city, who arefurious because of the bogus nature of the ticketsand outrageousconduct of the two city departments.
I will beout of townuntil June 4th and have my"informal hearings" scheduledfor June 8th. If neighbors want to organize some type of effort, count me in, and we can use my 3 tickets to begin action!
I am convinced that we need a large popululist revolt and need to take legal action TOGETHER, or this will continue until people feel completely helpless in their homes!!!
Sincerely,
Glenn
PS: UCD maintains a hit list forthese tickets. In Feb 2008, Idemanded UCD take equal action against the corporate landlords in the student ghetto. Ihad completeda photo documentation, for 1 month, of the weekly massive trash and recycling violations between 40th and 41st.( Dexter and Chris from UCD refused to call in a report as we stood at 41st and Pine surrounded by recyclable debris. The corporate landlord of the student ghetto is co-czar of our neighborhood on the UCD board with Penn.)
Neighbors may wish to photograph and witness the violations continuing in the corporate area, 40th-41st and Baltimore to Locust, to establish that these ticketshave never beengiven for trash; but for some unknown motive. It's now been several years thatthe student ghetto has an ongoing free pass to make massive violationswhile they sendbogus tickets to us.

The cover letter is dated May 6, 2009. The accompanying copy of a ticket is dated December 23, 2008, supposedly for “full open rubbish bins” put out at 9 am on a Tuesday. We NEVER put our trash out early, though our neighbors might. We’re lucky if it goes out at all. Point is, it’s impossible to defend against this sort of thing when the ticket arrives six months after the alleged violation.I know, I’m preaching to the choir. Just venting for now. When I have more time and less anger, I will direct my complaints to the proper authorities.Kimm

[UC] FOR SALE: Not-cheap wool rug, 19143

2009-05-12 Thread Cappy Harrison

Hi all,

I'm selling the wool rug that is currently in our underused dining room. It
measures 8 feet x 10 feet. I purchased it new about four years ago, and kept
in storage for 2 years after that, so it's been on the floor for about 2 years.
There are no stains on it that I can see. It's very plush and 100% wool. I
bought it on major discount from a store that was going out of business for
$900, but that was a markdown from $2,200.

Now that I'm moving into a much smaller space, I need to find a new home for
this pretty rug. It's primarly light gold in color, with a burgundy border and
dark green burgundy accents. We do have a cat in the house, but we keep it
vacuumed very regularly. (The rug, not the cat!)

I'd really like to get $600 for it, but will take reasonable offers. It's
heavy, so I recommend that you have a car, however I did get it home from the
store in a cab, so that's also an option.

You can see a partial picture of the rug here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cappyhead/3517657236/

The room is configured in such a way that I can't get a full shot of the rug,
but I will be posting more pictures soon.

Thanks!

there used to be hives along the north edge of the gardens
at 43rd and baltimore -- the very spot where they tore down
the house (4224-26 baltimore -- http://tinyurl.com/qtzx9u).

I discovered this one day on my way to the park -- I had
spotted a trail bees flying over the fence, and looked over,
and there were the hives, stacked among the ivy.

and it was dave trickett who minded them. I remember talking
to him about the bees there (up close, you could smell the
honey): he'd been doing it since '95, harvested twice a
year, and split the hives about once a year, using bees from
hives he had in pennsylvania and new jersey. he bottled his
honey and sold it at sam's place (I got a jar, it was nice.)
