[UC] Fwd: Himalayan Cat

It is *clearly* an owned cat who has recently been groomed, who is now getting beat up by the neighborhood street kitties. If you know anyone missing a cat matching this description, it seems to be sticking pretty close to this area. Peace, Eli
[UC] Fw: Fwd: Free kids' ukulele lessons
I am forwarding for John.. would you mind forwarding this? I think I've got 2-4 spots remaining. thanks -- Forwarded message -- From: John Salmon sugarinthegourd@gmail.com Date: Sun, Feb 27, 2011 at 10:51 PM Subject: Free kids' ukulele lessons To: 4600ha...@googlegroups.com 4600ha...@googlegroups.com Hey 4600 neighbors, I've been thinking for awhile now about trying to get a group of neighborhood kids together, and teaching them to play the ukulele. It's a very fun and relatively easy instrument, and a great way to expose children to the joy of making music. I am ready to commit to this idea now, so if any of you have or know of kids aged 8-15 (or thereabouts) who might be interested in learning to play ukulele, please let me know. I figured I'd start with a series of 8 group classes, once a week, and after 8 weeks we'll see how we're doing and decide where to go next. I will not charge anything for this first sequence of classes. I probably wouldn't charge anything for subsequent series either, but I can't make any promises there -- I could decide not to go forward, or to bring in another teacher. Each child would need a ukulele. Decent ukes can be bought for $40-80. I would ask parents who are interested to please let me know before you purchase anything so I can give you some advice. The difference between a usable instrument and a piece of junk is not always obvious. I think 6-8 students would be a good number for the first class. I would teach at my house on the weekends. Here's some inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk-hpv__cgo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZnmz50JsKE Let me know if you're interested. I will spread this offer out in a wider radius, but id like to keep a West Philly focus if possible. Thanks, John 4639 Hazel -- http://sugarinthegourd.com Old-Time, All the Time

[UC] at a hotel near you
http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/article/students-and-residents-react-new-hotel The hotel will be Penn’s first development project west of 41st Street. Homewood Suites will feature about 130 rooms on nine to 10 floors and will cater to patient families of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as professionals who require longer-term stays. the earlier dp article said the location was chosen because it had a commercial aesthetic. this article's photo shows that a few more houses were torn down to enhance that aesthetic. (the article gets the location wrong; it's not being built next to the restaurant school, which is in the next block west) .. Re: [UC] DP: Last Store Standing
http://thedp.com/article/last-store-standing-past-and-present-mcdonalds-40t h-and-walnut Dear Neighbors, I am happy to announce that I should never again have to argue on the UC Listserv that the UPenn has always wanted to move people of color from their neighborhoods, whom they deem as dangerous criminals, and extend their jurisdiction, and take poor people's properties. The above article link states their agenda plainly and distinctly with more code speech that I have ever seen in a single article since the G.W. Bush era. Now they would declare Mission Accomplished except for the dreaded McDonald's. I could now become a danger to our community because of who I am.
