[Bug 523380] Re: Change default backend/VCS back to Git
It's all a matter of default values. There are two reasons why we'll keep bzr as the default VCS backend for etckeeper: - bzr is the default VCS for Ubuntu, used in Ubuntu DistributedDevelopment. Etckeeper, as an Ubuntu main citizen, must integrate with preferred distribution systems - Long-term development for etckeeper in Ubuntu plans on extending the etckeeper bzr plugin to support more complex operations involving the metadata (allow to revert files to previous state, including permissions), so bzr+etckeeper will end up given a more streamlined user experience than git+etckeeper Switching to git is just two commands away (etckeeper uninit / change default / etckeeper init). When/if etckeeper lands as an option in the installer one day, we should definitely be able to preseed another VCS, so that etckeeper+git users don't end up with a degraded user experience. ** Changed in: etckeeper (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix -- Change default backend/VCS back to Git https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/523380 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 418836] Re: MIR jetty6
The jetty package in debian was finally updated to version 6, so that makes the partial jetty6 package we introduced for eucalyptus in karmic mostly redundant (and unsyncable). For lucid, I want to get rid of that redundant package and use the generic jetty one instead. I ported all Ubuntu improvements from the jetty6 package (enable build tests, use default-jdk) to the jetty package in a recent upload, so please consider the main promotion of the jetty package (so that i can move the eucalyptus dependencies to jetty and ask for jetty6 removal). Note that the scope of the jetty package is broader that the jetty6 one (it provides a standalone daemon in addition to the libraries). However, only the core jetty library should end up as a binary in main. OK, once I got past the funny implementation (testsuite doesn't use the junit ant task), I realized that in a typical java fashion, the testsuite brings a lot of new dependencies that are either in universe or non-packaged yet, so I've disabled those tests (requiring missing tyrex naming (?) and excalibur component manager libraries, + hibernate/spring which are in universe). Some other tests fail because the debian packaging does not repackage the cglib classes inside the proxool JAR. I also disabled them. Yes, like I said in comment 9, net usershare list is very local, so it shouldn't really need to resolve names. [Bug 452233] Re: package likewise-open5-eventlog 5.0.3991.1-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Can't reproduce on a (jaunty with likewise-open5) - karmic upgrade. I suspect that since you don't need likewise-open5 you disabled it somehow, that broke the upgrade (which tries to stop the daemons before upgrading), then further efforts to fix it left the package in an inconsistent state. ** Changed in: likewise-open5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: likewise-open5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- package likewise-open5-eventlog 5.0.3991.1-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 410379] Re: Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging when used with Sun's JVM
To Joshua: The only (meaningful for this bug) difference running apache.org tomcat instead of the Ubuntu packages is that you don't get a security manager enabled by default, so you don't hit this bug and you don't have to care about configuring policy files. If you don't care about running with a security manager, I'd recommend running the Ubuntu package with TOMCAT5_SECURITY=no, you would get the same effect. This bug is not about Ubuntu's tomcat packages, but rather with a recent change in Sun's JVM that make some changes in policy files required if you want to run with a security manager and Sun's JVM. [Bug 50385] Re: samba does not support private dir option (qemu related)
samba uses two directories: * private-dir (/etc/samba/private by default) to hold various secret tdbs * state-dir (/var/lib/samba by default) fhs-filespaths.patch ensures that for passdb.tdb, secrets.tdb and schannel_store.tdb, we use state-dir instead of private-dir. qemu overrides private-dir, but not state-dir. One fix for this bug would be to set private-dir=/var/lib/samba and drop the patch, that would allow qemu to happily override it. The potential regression is about all the other files that use private-dir directly. The only one I could find in code is idmap2.tdb (code in winbindd/idmap_tdb2.c). That one could probably live in /var/lib/samba as well, though it could cause upgrade headaches. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged -- samba does not support private dir option (qemu related) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50385 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs
