[Bug 448738] [NEW] Please sync libbsd-arc4random-perl 1.41-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libbsd-arc4random-perl As discussed in IRC: karmic has 1.3 which FTBFS due to a change in the more recent libbsd versions (which it links against), 1.41 works. It builds from unmodified Debian sources just fine. I’ve tested this in a karmic chroot a-g d-u’d just now, even with an application actually using this Perl module. ** Affects: libbsd-arc4random-perl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Please sync libbsd-arc4random-perl 1.41-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/448738 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

@fabrice_sp: thanks (you didn’t necessarily have to change the maintainer though, at least nobody did that for the last two uploads). [Bug 446132] Re: Please merge mksh 39.1-3 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
Yes, it is an upgrade of the shell which fixes a couple of bugs also (as I am both upstream and Debian Maintainer, I try to fix things upstream whenever possible), plus a number of backports from mksh-current (will become R40, but that one will introduce some differences in the scripting language and isn’t ready yer, whereas R38c→R39 should not break any existing scripts). -- Please merge mksh 39.1-3 (universe) from Debian testing (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs
[Bug 446132] [NEW] Please merge mksh 39.1-3 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mksh Binary package hint: mksh The new version contains a *iot* of important bugfixes and has even entered testing after 5 instead of the regular 10 days. The old Ubuntu specific patches (one to disable debconf, as we cannot change /bin/sh away from dash, the other to work around a gcc bug in jaunty and karmic) are still necessary. I have tested it in a karmic chroot freshly a-g d-u’d today (otherwise not used). [Bug 382360] [NEW] dietlibc not available on lpia
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dietlibc There is no dietlibc on lpia, which I understand is the same machine architecture as i386 but optimised for low power consumption. It should be possible to fool dietlibc into thinking lpia==i386, or even use the i386 binary package on lpia. Yep, I already discovered and fixed it, this is a bug in dietlibc, filed as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dietlibc/+bug/381215 but I haven’t yet gotten around to replying again to this bug report because, although I could take the time (I’m at work right now) to make me a karmic chroot and test it, out of a sudden I had several requests to work on. This is actually a compiler bug fixed in gcc-snapshot: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-defaults/+bug/352475 I suppose with this and https://bugs.launchpad.net/dash/+bug/348872 it doesn’t make sense to drop the -ubuntu1 delta altogether. The debconf stuff should be removed unless karmic fixes the issues when running with mksh as /bin/sh I had on my hardy PC at work, and the 「-combine」 option to mksh/Build.sh uses the gcc options 「-fwhole-program --combine」 which trigger the aforementioned bug in certain versions of gcc. [Bug 348872] [NEW] please remove debconf stuff from mksh in MOTU
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mksh mksh provides debconf to be run as /bin/sh which works fine in Debian. My Hardy system at work however fails to boot with it, because at least the checkroot.sh from initscripts does invalid assump- tions about the shell: on_ac_power /dev/null 21 if [ $? -eq 1 ] then log_warning_msg On battery power, so skipping file system check. rootcheck=no fi ⇒ fails because this stuff seems to be run with “set -e”, even though I cannot find where it is enabled. Anyway, the safest course is probably to remove all the debconf stuff and the po-debconf dependency. I’ve done so in my experimental repository: https://www.freewrt.org/~tg/debs/dists/hardy/wtf/pkgs/mksh/ contains my current “experimental packaging”; if you take it over, you will want to remove debian/diffs/dot.mkshrc.diff which is not intended for DEB upstream but only for my wtf repo. Also, get mksh-current from AnonCVS, as it’s currently in Release Candidate state for R37, and I had a bugfix yesterday. Otherwise, at least rid the debconf stuff. I don’t know if the initscripts bug still exists in intrepid/jaunty/koala, or if it’s worth reporting it, but unless someone really uses it, I guess they merely have the possibility to hurt, despite mksh as /bin/sh on Debian being fine. ** Affects: mksh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- please remove debconf stuff from mksh in MOTU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348872 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs
