Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2014-04-28 Thread sbp

Hi all piCorePlayer users.

Ralphy has been so kind as to update his Squeezelite build to the latest
version 1.6.2 - so please use the update Ralphys Squeezelite option in
the Main web page in piCorePlayer and you should get the latest
version.
This one has some optimization which is important for weaker CPUs (like
the raspberry).

For the time being, the images will still be available from my

level directory permissions) get messed-up after the daily rsync job
runs, requiring manual intervention. Fixed now.

Hello all, firstly thanks to all who have put PiCorePlayer together...

I am having good success playing with my Raspberry Pi via my
Audiophilleo-2 up to 96kHZ. However using the squeezelite upsampling
options, I get some very quiet crackling at 176400 and complete hash at
192000, regardless of attenuation, buffering and other settings.

Anybody else using an AP2 (or AP1) who can comment on their experience?

Okay, got the image downloaded and installed.

1. The :8080 is no longer valid in the User Guide. Now all it is
required is the IP address of the Wandboard
2. On the SqueezeServer page, clicking the button SqueezeServer Web

Root access is not enabled by default. Instead you can get access using
user=fedora password=fedora.

Once in you can enable root access by setting a password - 'passwd
root', but generally it's not recommended to access in normal
circumstances as root but to use 'sudo' when raised privileges are
required.

I found that the root password is also fedora.

I don't know if it is me or what. The CSOS hasn't been very stable on
my end. First with scanner aborting and I managed to crash the entire
OS with a terminal running 'top' command on the server and doing a scan
on LMS and iPeng accessing LMS all at the same time. Had to yank power
to recover.

Is it possible to downgrade LMS back to 7.7.2? That version seems to be
the most stable and fast on my end...

This is indeed the case, since the promotion of the lua-version as
default. Will be addressed in a new version of the guie

You should make sure you have the latest version, it's fixed there.
Easiest way of updating everything to the latest versions:

Code:

  sudo csos-cleanUpdate

Main System: Touch; Marantz SR-5004; TMA Premium 905; TMA Premium 901;
BK Monolith+ FF; HDI Dune Smart D1; Pioneer PDP-LX5090H

There might be something to this. Something to do with LMS locking the
database out from clients (be that the web gui or iPeng, etc. etc.) which
causes 100% CPU load on the WB and it to appear unresponsive, but let the
scan finish and all returns to normal. Not sure what the circumstances are
with the db locked-out, maybe a full rescan, rather than incremental. Not
sure.

Kuro wrote:

No. But in any case the first thing you want to do with the image, is
update it. The LMS 7.8.0 that is part of that image is pre the 7.8-7.9
malarky. The LMS 7.8.0 you'll get from the update repo is the real 7.8.0
release, if there is such a thing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1

2014-04-28 Thread JackOfAll

I've been looking(in various areas) at eeking out every last CPU cycle
of performance I've posted an update to soxr, which is being used
for resampling in squeezelite and dsdplay. The difference from the last
build, is that although SIMD was enabled by default on Intel, the
detection code that switches is on for arm won't ever switch it on for
arm. Anyway, a quick hack patch to force it on and now NEON extensions
should be being used for single precision FFT. (Which means up to 'h' 20
bit quality. Go to 'v' and it's using doubles, for which I don't believe
there is any SIMD optimisation.) This hasn't had any real testing by me
other than to be able to say that it is working. I've not run any
benchmarks, other than the tests that were in the soxr distro, but that
wasn't very conclusive. Needs some numbers generated with downsampling
DSD, vs the old version. If anyone else is interested in testing.
Need to restart squeezelite after updating, otherwise it'll carry on
using the old version it has loaded in memory.

Update...

Code:

  sudo csos-cleanUpdate-testing soxr
  sudo systemctl restart squeezelite

Hello together,

tested the new piCorePlayer with HDMI Output to my Marantz SR7007
Amplifier a few minutes ago and I want to share the results with you.
_Output 96/24 files = OK (correct bitrate is received on Marantz)
_Output 192/24 files = OK (correct bitrate is received on Marantz)
_Output DTS 5.1 files = OK (correct bitrate and 5.1 is received on
Marantz - 100% volume is required of course)

So all in all - PERFECT!!!
Thanks for the great player!

Last test for tonight: DSD output from my VORTEXBOX (with LMS DSD patch)
to Marantz via HDMI.
This has not worked with my DFF files in the past, maybe now...
Does anybody has a parameter set which is already optimized for DSD
streaming?

Appreciate your feedback
